hello! We are going on our honeymoon a couple of months after our wedding. But we want to go on a short 3-4 day getaway somewhere in Southern California (our wedding is in LA). We live in Chicago so we'll be going back there after our wedding. So we want some place beautiful and relaxing somewhere within driving range to LA, but that will still feel like a honeymoon. We are open to any and all suggestions. I'm not from CA so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

@leila0915:  Hi! I just wanted to say that I think you guys should checkout  Joshua Tree National Park! My fiance and I are from Canada but go there every year and we are getting married there in October :) Well, we are actually being married in Indian Cove but it's still part of the park. It is AMAZING!!!!! We are having out ceremony in Palm Springs, but we love Joshua Tree so much we didn't care about the commute from the ceremony to the reception.

I hope you find some place you love!

If I were you, I'd go to San Diego. Maybe look into the Hotel del Coronado? I don't know any other "honeymoony" hotels off hand, but I'm sure there are several!

San Diego's great because it's beautiful, and there's also lots to do if you're up for it. I love the Gaslamp District for shopping, restaurants and general awesomeness.

    Good luck on your search!

@jackieee: Totally agree! I'd hit up San Diego - it is so beautiful and relaxing there. There's the beach, tons of beautiful places to hit, the zoo, etc. If you can, I'd recommend staying in one of the smaller, coastal "surfer" towns, like Carlsbad or Encinitas. They have a more relaxing pace, but there's still a lot of fun stuff to do.

    Have fun!

I would consider Palm Springs or Desert Hot Springs.  They have some really nice hotel/spas.  Depending on what else you're looking to do they also have golf, a couple casinos, shopping, and what not.  We're kind of doing the same thing, not taking our honeymoon for a couple months, but we're local to the area so we're going to Vegas for a few days after the wedding (it's only about a 3-4 hour drive from where I'm at).
