Hi Bees! I’m getting married next July. I’m preparing for it to be 85 and humid at ceremony time, but hoping for 75 and comfortable. I bought a consignment dress before I had picked a date and a venue and realized that 12 lbs of ruched satin with layers of taffeta and crinoline was going to make for a less enjoyable wedding experience. It was a gorgeous ruched fit and flare gown and I’m sure it will make another bride very happy.
I’ve upped my dress budget to $1500, decided to be more open to things I didn’t think I wanted (strapless, beading, lace).
Does anyone have any tips on finding something less sweaty than ruched satin with crinoline?

Chiffon is a great fabric for that kind of weather. It’s much lighter, moves better, and tends to be flattering.
Maggie Sottero and Sottero and Midgley have some beautiful chiffon dresses around the $1,500.00 price range that you might want to check out.

i don’t have any fabric recommendations, but you should definitely consider wearing a hoop with your dress. it will really help keep you cooler and it’ll be easier to walk around too. it was 103 degrees on my wedding day and my reception was outside and i was so greatful for that hoop! i wore a lace trumpet dress, if it matters…
