Usually what we recommend if you are trying to stay within a specific budget, is don’t go to a two star resort that allows kids just because you can get 7 nights out of it. Go someplace amazing, but go for 5 nights instead of 7. When you look back on this 10 years from now, you will remember your experience. It’s unlikely that you will remember that you went for 5 nights rather than 7 to stay within your budget.

We often send clients to great resorts like Couples, Secrets, Excellence and El Dorado Royale that stay within that range for about 5 nights. These resorts all offer the kind of experience you’re looking for, with great food and lots of activities. Dependent upon the cost of air from your city, any of these may work within your budget.

If you don’t have a honeymoon registry yet, I recommend it highly! This will help with your honeymoon budget as well.

Totally agree with pp to spend your budget wisely on a resort that you’ll love! My coworker is just back from Couples Negril in Jamaica and said it was so great. The food was awesome, beach amazing and the service so personal. You know you’re gonna get an amazing Honeymoon if you book a resort like Couples.

I LOVE Negril!!  But I would recommend Cancun/Playa del Carmen/Tulum if you are looking for lots of things to do.  There are a lot more activities/excursions there than places like Jamaica and the Dominican republic.  Mayan ruins, some of the best diving and snorkeling around, shopping and restaurants, ziplining, horseback riding, swimming in cenotes and Xcaret and Xel-Ha, which are sort of ecological parks.

Check out the Secrets, Excellence, Dreams, Iberostar Grand, Riu.  There are tons of resorts in the area for every budget.
