Sorry I can't help, but I'm interested to know if you find any! I'm planning my wedding in Hastings, MI, but live in the Detroit area so it's kinda hard to find them. I don't really know any brides that live in that area so I don't have anyone to get recommendations from. Sorry that I can't be of any help, but thanks for posting the question!

Well I'm planning my wedding in the Detroit area, but Saugatuck isn't all that far away (I love visiting there, btw!). I am very happy with the vendors I am going with - Mike Staff Productions for the DJ (www.mikestaff.com) - I don't know if maybe they go to other areas of the state? But they are very budget friendly! $900 for the whole package and it includes everything unlike many of the other DJs that I had researched where there were a million different packages to choose from that were way overpriced. My friends used them for their wedding last spring and everyone loved them!
The photographer I am using is Chris Parker (www.parkerphotographic.com). He has his "economy sucks" packages which worked out awesome for us. For his prices, his pictures are amazing compared to other photographers listed at those prices. He is based out of Royal Oak I think but it seems like he'd be willing to do work elsewhere.

Bloodgo1, I'm surprised that DJ's can be so pricey, I'd like to keep it to $400 or less...so we'll see what I can come up with!

I live in VA, but I booked Michigan based Heather J Photography. I can't brag about Heather enough. She is helpful, organized, and has a wonderful personality. She is AMAZING and I would recommend her to anyone in the area.

There are two new photographers in the Detroit area that service all of Michigan. Their prices are low for 2010 while they build their portfolio. You get two photographers and they take a modern, creative approach! Dolce La Vie Photography

I would reccomend Pro Djs. They do work all over Michigan and are wonderful. I can't say enough about how professional they are and they really work hard to send the dj who matches your personality and style. They also have a photobooth that they could set up which is great too!

I have an awesome photographer who is from Kzoo. I am getting married up by the Big Rapids area. Her name is Jenny her e-mail address is lsmphotos@yahoo.com . I can't think of her website off the top of my head, but she's a sweetheart. She photographed my cousins wedding this past April and is doing mine in 3 weeks. She's been a godsent to work with and she's only $300 something for the full day, unlimited pictures. She's also on facebook. GL
I love my photographer Davyn Photography. They just did our senior pictures and we had such fun plus we also got amazing pictures!
www.davynphotography.com. They are really helpful and they also create a contract with you so you get stuff that you want and don't have to pay for the stuff you don't want!
Nathan English did ours. He was very affordable and our pics turned out great!

Hi Western Michigan Bees!
I'm planning our wedding in Saugatuck on Labor Day weekend and need a photographer and a DJ. I'd appreciate any suggestions for budget-friendly vendors who still do solid work...maybe very talented folks just getting their starts???
