I ordered a boc from Sams Club just to see what the quality would be and the flowers were absolutely GORGEOUS. My friend used to be a florist so she doesnt have a license any longer but her gift is to do my entire wedding for me. I would def give Sams a try. I cant say enough good things about their quality.
A friend of mine is a free lance florist and works with events by Dezine and Alpharetta Floral Market and did my wedding for the most amazing price!
I got every single type of flower I wanted, GORGEOUS centerpieces, and she really took the time to help design and feel of our wedding reception!
For what I might have spent,, maybe a teeny bit more than diy, I got a wonderful professional!
PM me if you need contact info.
I used Maud Baker Flowers in Decatur. They have the cutest little store! The prices were definately reasonable but I don't know how they compare to DIY prices! All I can say is that on the big day you don't want to be worrying about anything like did my friend finish all the flower arrangements!
here's a list of vendors we used and we loved them
hair and makeup - spencer malay
dj - http://www.lethalrhythms.com/index.aspx (they're probably the best in the South)
not sure i had the best experience with the florist i used, but if you're not doing diy, here are some that we worked with that always have gorgeous work and they are great people
-Blossoms Atlanta - http://blossomsatlanta.com/
-DGL Designs - http://www.dgldesigns.com/
-2000 AD - http://2000adinc.com/ (they really try to work within your budget)
also if you're okay with having silk flowers rather than real flowers i have a friend who started up a silk flower business, and it's very affordable

*MayParade: Sent you the info you needed on my florist! She's so sweet and very talented!
both of my best girl friends and now i am going with Peonies Inc. for flowers. I looked into DIY and her prices were lower than my DIY. My best friends were wedding flowers were gorgeous! They have been my most responsive vendor so far and they working with my $600 budget. i think the website is peoniesinc.com or just google it.
@annie2011: There's something fishy about this vendor you reccomended but that's just my own personal opinion/experience.
Just wanted to update this post with the vendors I ended up using!
Flowers - went with peonies inc. Jacki was awesome and the flowers turned out AMAZING! They ended up being about the same price as DIY and SO much less stressful and more beautiful. Seriously though, the flowers were gorgeous and EXACTLY what I wanted. Total was about $900 including 16 centerpieces, 6 bridesmaids bouquets, my bouquet, bouts and corsages for the groom/smen and family, aisle markers, a custom hanging billy-ball backdrop, and setup/delivery. She was a breeze to work with too. PM me for pictures.
Makeup - went with Rachael from faceofmakeup. She came to our house and did a great job - airbrush makeup, false eyelashes plus hair all for $175 for me and $125 for the bridesmaids. The makeup was a little more dramatic than I'd wanted originally (I told her I wanted a more natural look) but it ended up turning out pretty nice for the pictures.
DJ - went with DJ Joycette (aka Joyce Russell), who was a friend of one of my bridesmaids. She usually plays shows in Augusta, GA and south carolina, but came to roswell for our wedding and did a FANTASTIC job. Also set up mics for the ceremony even though she was only playing the reception. She was $50 an hour (we did 5 hours) plus travel and setup. pm me for her contact info.

Hair/makeup: I found an on-location hair and makeup artist for $175 for both hair and makeup +$75 for trial.. is this a good price? Anyone have a salon recommendation in the Roswell area?
DJ: I've talked a few people, but really am looking for someone who knows music well and isn't just going to play "typical" wedding music. My fiance and I were thinking along the lines of indie dream pop and old school dance classics a la beach house, joanna newsom, stereolab, mixed in with jackson five and stevie wonder. I know it's sort of an odd request, but can anybody help out here?
Flowers: was thinking of doing the diy route but not sure if that's going to be way too much work. What are your suggestions for good wholesalers or affordable wedding florists?
Thanks atlanta bees!
