Calling all SoCal brides!
Just trying to get some local recommendations in the LA/Glendale/Burbank/Pasadena general area for a good, trustworthy place to get alterations (as well as cleaning and pressing) for something as important as a wedding dress.
I bought my dress from preownedweddingdresses.com so I don’t have a default bridal shop to go to. My alterations aren’t going to be that complicated (just tightening the bodice), so I would love to not have to spend a fortune! But of course, the quality and not completely ruining my dress will be the most important thing.
Yelp is telling me that Sossy’s in Toluca Lake seems to be pretty highly regarded. Anyone have other personal recommendations?

I’ve heard of a place called West coast couture in Culver city…my friend went there last year and says Marie is the best!

I’m using this lady
It’s a bit further out in Woodland Hills but so far she seems really good. A wedding planner friend recommended her and said she’s amazing. My dress isn’t done yet but she came very highly recommended and so far, so good.

Thanks for your tips, ladies! Would you mind sharing the ballpark number of what you’re spending on your alterations? I’d love to get a general sense of what’s normal for the LA area.

@nkatsa: Mine is going to be $220 to do the hemline (3 layers) and french bustle. I thought that was way too much but apparently (and unfortunately) it’s normal.

@peanutbutter1205: thanks for sharing! That actually sounds pretty reasonable compared to what I’ve heard is normal at bridal salons (up to $600?! wow). Since the only alteration I need is to tighten the corset, hopefully it will be even less….. <crossing fingers!>

I will be going to the salon i bought my dress from TAYLOR LACE in Artesia, CA but its really more like Cerritos because the shop is right down the street from Cerritos Mall. I havent had my dress altered yet but she is really reasonable and is willing to work with your budget. Ask for Deborah the store owner.
