We absolutely loved our engagement session with Nanxi Ling (nanxi.ling@gmail.com) She spent a whole Saturday morning with us shooting all over downtown NYC - we had so much fun and the photos came out beautifully. Nanxi is just starting out in weddings, so she's very reasonable and works hard to make sure you get exactly what you want. She took into account all of our suggestions for the shoot, plus suggested her own ideas, which my FI and I loved.

I used Bailly Photography Matt is really nice and super down to earth. I'm so in love with his pictures, I want to get engaged and married again just to have more reasons to work with him! :P And I know he does stuff in NYC. Good luck!

Laura of Pennace Photography is fabulous! I had originally hired a photographer who turned out to be a horror - he didn't show up to our engagement session and argued with me on my wedding day. Worst of all, his pictures were crap. It's one of my biggest regrets in planning my wedding. I hired Laura to take photos of us because I was so unhappy with my other photog, and hers were PHENOMENAL. She lives in NYC, travels wherever you want to go, and best of all: LISTENS to what you want! She's extremely pleasant and approachable. I highly, highly recommend her. She made the pain of having a horrible wedding day photog easier to bear now that I have her great photos. Her prices are extremely reasonable, too (always a good thing in NYC!). She's extremely talented - trust me, you won't be sorry!
@pbj11: thanks for the shout out! :) Did you end up meeting with her? Are you going to use her? We had so much fun shooting our e-pics and as you can see, they came out great!
we LOVE our photographers so far.. check out their site.. we just worked with them in hoboken but they also shoot in DUMBO and central park a lot. They were a lot of fun to work with.

just took my engagement pictures the other day and I am telling you my photographer (David Wong) did an amazing job. I love love love the pictures he took. If your looking for truly artistic and beautiful pictures definitely give him a call, he really is so creative. I feel like my fiance and I got soo much value and high quality for what we paid for. Engagement session, unlimited shooting for the day, a guest book, a special day after photo shoot we got two photogreaphers and more =)
Pictures are really the only thing your going to have 50 yrs from now when you and your husband get older so make it count

Honestly I really wouldn't go out of my way to recommend vendors but I definitely would recommend. Of all the people I met along this wedding planning journey he's been the best to work with.

I highly recommend Julia Newman...we just got back our engagement pictures and she did an amazing job!!! We took pictures in the West Village and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge...she knows how to make you look like you are in a magazine spread and also captures the beauty and essence of the city!
