Oh good idea! I always feel bad with all the leftover wrapping paper, what to do with it? That's a really good way to reuse so it gets a second life!

So I just came across a great template at www.paper-souce.com.
http://www.paper-source.com/cgi-bin/paper/item/Envelope-Template-Kit/2950.401/40713000.html
It's a template to make your own envelopes out of whatever paper you like or have laying around. Growing up, my Grandma always had us open our presents very carefully so she could reuse the wrapping paper. That being instilled in me, I still open presents, making every effort not to tear the paper...but I've never reused it. Once I found this template, I came up with the idea to save all of the wrapping paper our shower gifts and wedding gifts come in, and turn it into envelopes for our thank you notes! I'm sure it won't make enough for all of our thank you's, but it should make a good dent :)
