I think, shame on your wedding coordinator for saying your colors are horrible!
Is the wedding in the evening?
I think the grey actually "summers it up" a little. Keep the grey light (like the dress) and not too charcoal-y and you should be fine since red works year round!
Your wedding should be a reflection of you as a couple and what you like, not what the calendar says!
I completely agree! I think this is gorgeous! I think it is silly that some people get wrapped up in what colors they think should be used at certain times of the year. It is your wedding, do what ever you like! I agree that the grey keeps it a bit summery! I actually am wanting grey bridesmaid dresses as well! ;)
Ughhh shame on this coordinator for telling you this! I'd say this is such a rookie mistake...now if you throw in black and damask...yes it will look more wintery but really who the hell cares!
When I'm putting colors together I like to think of liitle trick that brighten a pallette..introduce a neautral...could be teal-esk or a bright tan or if you're into patterns think gingham. I'm such a southern girl so this is more my style...no matter what you decide to do go with what you LIKE.
picture found at: wedding by color--I have no idea who the photographer is...sorry.

Your wedding including your wedding colors should be what YOU want and not what a coordinator or a magazine or tv show say is "summer" colors. There are definitely plenty of options to still incorporate lighter aspects of your desired color choices or if its in the evening, keep it as it is. I've learned that what I like isn't what my guests or a coordinator would do, but its MY wedding for a reason... make it your own
I'm doing almost the same colors - burgundy & grey - in 2 weeks and it's not winter yet. Go for it. Light grey will look lovely, esp if he wears a summer suit.
my wedding is 8/4/12 and my colors are red/silver and some black. now is the time to get red and silver decorations since those are holiday colors as well. but i was thinking the same thing at first too that the colors were to "wintery"
Im doing ruby, pearl, and slate for my spring wedding. I could care less what time of year it is. The colors are what we like and that is that :)
Have you checked out perfect palette? Here are some of there cranberry/burgundy color combinations: http://www.theperfectpalette.com/search/label/Cranberry
Frankly I would just stick with the vision in your head. Having lighter accent colors like lighter silvers, white, and even pale pink would definitely make it feel "summery." Again though, the dress/flowers combo you posted is going to look gorgeous as is, and so I would go with your gut. And remember, you are paying the coordinator if she is being rude about your perfectly nice color combo I think it would be appropriate to say something.
I am getting married in December, but I was told that the colors wouldn't work that great either. So I guess 'to each their own.' and do what you want! Theres not rules for personalization!
My bridesmaid dresses are Charcoal and the style 7132 from Alfred Angelo! They are very similar to the ones shown in your OP. The color in person is AWESOME and photographs beautifully! And best of all the dress looks GREAT on all 3 of my gals.
I chose Charcoal because I didnt want to use Black Dresses for our evening wedding. I thought the girls would get lost in the night. So Charcoal was a LOVELY substitution! And I love it against RED (my bmaids bouquet color)! Im also throwing some DARK TEAL (flower girls, ribbon on favors, ribbon on bridal bouquet, outdoor uplighting) in with my scheme. Maybe you can throw a pop color in!?!
Best of luck to you! I think it will be lovely! =) Black, Red and White/Silver are very common wedding colors, so doing it in summer should be NO problem, its classic!
I'm using the same colours, but also adding a marigold yellow to brighten it up a bit.
It's your wedding. Use whatever colours you want.
the photo which was uploaded looks lovely and the colours look really good together.
also agree with the other Bees, not a very nice thing for your coordinator to say!
its your wedding and should reflect what you like, and again in the picture it doesnt look at all 'strange' to have 'winter' colours!
keep to your choice, i think they look lovely together!
I love that photo!!!
I'm having a December wedding and planning to do more of red/gray/white wedding, and it's a day wedding. So instead, I'm planning to use a lighter gray for the bridesmaid dresses iike this picture. It should also work for your summer timeframe :) Add bright colored wedding flowers and it should really be great!

Ok I'm getting married in the drop dead middle of summer! I originally planned for a black and white wedding with a splash of red. A dark rose red. It's my favorite color and I just think it is oh so beautiful! I was trying to show my mom a bouquet I liked and the color of red that I liked and shared this photo with her:
Well, my mom ended up falling IN LOVE with the gray bridesmaids dresses. So, now, my bridesmaids dresses look just like the one in the picture. My wedding coordinator says that this color combo in the middle of summer will be HORRIBLE because they're winter colors.
Does anyone know or have seen pictures using red and gray to where it doesn't look so wintry? I've already sent out my save-the-dates with gray and red, so I'd hate to change, but will if necessary.
