I haven’t been there in years, but Fi and I went tonight on our way to the opening of a new bookstore. We generally stay away from chain restaurants, but it was just too close to pass by.
Is it just me, or is Red Lobster spiffing itself up? The cheddar bay biscuits were as good as ever, but the appetizer (lobster artichoke dip) and the shrimp trio had something of a food-styled air to it. The prices are pretty high in our area, which kind of odd for the size of the shrimp.
In the long run, it was worth it because of the variety. Sure I could cook bigger/better shrimp at home, but how long would it take to make shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, shrimp linguine, and biscuits?
What do you think of RL?

I hate how butter-ed up everything is. The biscuits are awesome though.
As much as I complain about it, sometimes I just need a 3000 calorie RL meal! (ie this week, Darling Husband and I have planned a date and now you’re making me crave it!)
I’m not sure any around here are trying to fancy it up…but seems to be the way everything is going (ie McDonalds…)

That’s Darling Husband and my favorite restaurant, which is funny because I’m not a huge seafood eater. I like shrimp, though, and their mashed potatoes are heavenly! I can’t cook seafood at home because the smell makes me sick, so if Darling Husband wants his lobster or scallops, we’re going out.

I just love the cheddar bay biscuits. The food is so so. =]

haha my mom’s birthday is this weekend and she wants to go to Red Lobster for dinner!! We’re landlocked so unfortunately we don’t have any good seafood places to choose from.

I don’t like seafood and I usually just get Shrimp Alfredo sans the shrimp so I’m not sure if I’m the best judge… I think they’re okay. The biscuits are incredible but Fiance has a recipe for cheddar biscuits that are just as good so that’s not a huge draw for me.

@MrsWilson2012: I kind of feel the same way! The biscuits are heavenly, and I hardly touched my dinner because I ate 2 and the salad.

I really really can’t stand seafood but I love their biscuits! The steak is okay too… not the best but better than some places I’ve been so we eat there from time to time… I think it’s a little over priced though.

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: 3 words… CHEDDAR. BAY. BISCUITS.
I hadn’t been in like a decade but went on my last business trip and honestly, I thought it was well priced compared to places I usually go when I eat out – cheapest dinner all trip. The service was great and in addition to the ~*biscuits*~, the rest was pretty good! I got an app sampler thing and it had scallops and stuffed mushrooms and other deliciousness.

I haven’t been in probably 6 years? We’re not chain restaurant people anymore, there are just WAY too many good local restaurants around here for us to go chain.
Even when we did before we were not fans, so over priced and over buttered.
I’m spoiled though because I grew up around fresh seafood so I balk at the thought of frozen seafood.

Ive only been once and yes the biscuits are amazing. But as far as chain seafood places go- Bonefish grill is higher up in my book.

Seafood is my best friend. I would eat there every day if I could lol. Sadly, Darling Husband doesn’t feel the same so we haven’t been in awhile. 🙁

Love, love, LOVE the cheddar bay biscuits! The food is really pretty good too! I thought it was the best seafood ever when I lived in the midwest…but now that I’m on the coast where there is fresh seafood everywhere…well, it is still a delicious treat but I still love the local places more!

When we were in college, we used to do some date nights at Red Lobster- they earned a spot in our restaurant roatation! In my hometown we never had any chain restaurants or fast food joints ( only mcdonalds) so when I wen’t to school in a commerical area, my husband thought it was amazing to take me to all these crappy places just ’cause i had never been 😉
They have some higher end peices of fish, and just good ole’ trashy standbys. My husband eats all the biscuits and makes him self too full to eat his meal, every time. I think its a fine place, since there are surely worse!

Gah! They play Red Lobster commercials where I live, yet the closest RL is 100 miles away in CT. I’ve only had it once down in Florida and man, my mouth still waters over those biscuits.
