I can't think of any reason why that would be inappropriate unless it has something to do with your culture?
I'll be wearing dark crimson on my nails at my semi-formal engagement party if that makes you feel any better!
(btw my favorite red is essie bordeaux and essie wicked if you want a dark crimson)
I don't see why there would be anything wrong with this, unless doing so would make you self-conscious (especially if you have long nails).

I'm attending a semi-formal fall wedding in Italy and am wearing a one shoulder taupe colored dress. Would it be inappropriate to wear red nail polish on my hands? Partly, I have a bruise on one of my thumbs I am trying to cover up, but I also think red would look fab :)
