helenew:  personally, I think don’t change it. It’s beautiful. It’s the ring he picked out for you and it will most likely have to be recast so you won’t have much of it left. If it’s custom designed that means your fiance put in a lot of effort to get it for you, personally I think it will be wrong to change it.

I had mine changed but not because it wasn’t my style. My fiancé proposed to me with just a diamond and we looked for a setting online that we both really love, then we had it custom made at Kay jewelers. My husband visited the store at least 4 times while they were in the process of making it (the store was an hour and a half away). Once the ring arrived, it came out different and in 14k rose gold instead of 18k rose gold… There and then they said that they don’t make 18k rose gold and that 18k RG doesn’t exist in America… (Really?! Whether that’s true or not, you have to tell the customers whether you could make it or not right?), there were other problems too. They also wouldn’t let us return it, so we decided to have another setting made by Adiamor. Anyway, after all the complaining that I did on Kay’s FB, a customer service finally contacted me and explained to me what the staff at the store told them, and of course the they didn’t mention all the important parts! in the end we were able to return the setting. I didn’t get my final Ering until a month after we got married (we were only engaged for 3 months).

Anyway, we don’t have a similar story lol (sorry for the long story), but if the change that you like is not that huge of a difference they should be able to use all the diamonds and metal that you have right now (I’ve asked the same question to our jeweler before), and shouldn’t cost you that much at all.

P.S. Here’s a picture of my before and after ring. TOP pic was our inspiration design, LEFT ring is what Kay made & RIGHT ring is what Adiamor made and I couldn’t be happier! (husband also bought my diamond from Adiamor).

I genuinely think your ring is stunning as it is, your other half obviously went to a lot of trouble to design it, is it worth changing if you only want a tiny difference and risk hurting his feelings(I know he says change it but still must be a bit disappointed that you don’t like what he chose)?

It really is a gorgeous design, but if it’s not your exact taste & you obviously know your fiance better than me then go for it! Keep us updated 🙂

helenew:  thanks! But the first ring was kind of lazy work… The milgrain detailing is nowhere close to how we wanted it plus the extra metal was all crooked and stuff, but at least we got what we want lol.

if your fiancé is ok with it then why not right? It’s not like you’re forcing him, and you can always playfully flirt with him lol but then you don’t have to do that since he already told you to do changes if you want to. If he said no then that’s abother subject IMO. Good luck!

helenew:

Would a a cushion halo look okay on a round brilliant center stone? Or did you want to change the center stone as well? That could get really expensive. But if your fiance is on board- it’s up to you.

I think your ring is lovely the way it is.

helenew:  did you decided on resetting it? And asked about using your ring’s current materials?

I would change it. Your FI is supper supportive and I think it would be even more romantic to look down at your new halo shape and think about that amazing man who was sercure enough to let you change the ring to what you wanted.

I love the look of cushion halos on round stones. Good luck and please show us photos when it’s done!

Mrs.DK:  I LOVE your ring. It is just stunning!

I agree with Everdeen, as long as you’re not pressuring your fiancé. Thank you Everdeen!

I think you should just love what you have. I would understand if you wanted something totally different like a simple solitaire, but to go through all that trouble for just a slight change is picky/bratty. And you know what- after youindulge this you’ll find something else to want and it will go on and on and on.

Love your ring! He designed it just for you for gods sake-  how could you!?

I would just buy yourself a gemstone RHR with the cushion halo to scratch your itch.
