Im another fellow redhead. I have blue eyes and very, very red hair, so I would love some information also.

Dancemom, did you happen to see Miss Cowboy Boot's makeup trial blog yesterday? Her coloring seems to be similar to ours, freckles and reddish hair. I loved her makeup and am thinking of going to Bobbi Brown for some advice. I love their make up and have been recommended to try them for my coloring as well.

I hope there are more redheads on there willing to help us out!

I can't say I'm much of an expert on makeup, but I am doing my own for my wedding in a couple of weeks and I've tested a number of things. I'm going with stuff from Smashbox except for mascara which is Clinique Lashpower. I'm pretty pale with some but not an overabundance of freckles. I typically wear brown mascara as my lashes (and eyebrows) are very blond despite my hair being very red. For the wedding day I've opted for black mascara but dark brown eyeliner as the black eyeliner was too harsh. I have blue eyes and after trying multiple color palettes I decided on Smashbox Center Stage for my eyeshadow. It's shades of pink to russett and I love it. I am also using the Smashbox Brow Tech in taupe to give my eyebrows more color. Not sure if that helps but I have found for me that warm colors always look better.

Red heads or Strawberry blonds can get away with more then you would think.  A lot of colors look great on there typically fair skin and beautiful red hair.

Of course colors like browns, oranges and naturals look very soft and natural.  But also cool colors such as blues, purples, greys and pinks look awesome!

It really depends on your taste.  Here is a photo of a beautiful makeup look that would be great for a bride.

I loved my makeup on my wedding day. It was done by Samantha at La Belle Visage and she is truly an artist! She works very fast and I felt beautiful once I saw myself in the mirror! One of the best investments on the wedding!

She used a lot of browns on my eyes ( she wanted to emphasize one feature only and I chose eyes over lips) and kept the rest of the palate very soft and romantic.

I'm a redhead but there's alot of colors I can't wear no matter how pretty I think they are. Because I have warm-toned skin, I can't wear any cool-toned colors, with the rare exception of turquoise. I generally wear makeup in warm colors (browns, golds, coppers, greens).

Your best bet is to ask a reputable makeup artist to determine what your skin tone is under good lighting and then what colors fit into that category. I had one makeup artist at Bare Essentials tell me I was cool toned and that I should stay away from my regular browns and greens in favor of pinks and purples, which I look awful in. At the MAC counter (as well as my own sister's opinion since she is a former beautician), they told me I was warm toned and that the other counter was incorrect.
