So I recently left my toxic hell of a workplace to finish up school (I’m excited!) and, although I do enjoy being home full time, I am sure I will eventually be going back to work (hopefully part time). I also have a little side business I operate that gives me some spending cash.
My question is this: before I left my former position, a couple of the women I worked with/supervised offered to be references for me. They both have a tone of experience in the field, and have been members of the staff/team for a long time. Is it appropriate, as a supervisor, to use them as a professional reference? I should note that, in my last role with the company, I didnt handle any hr/employee relations sorts of things, I was more of a middle-man between associates and management. I mostly dealt with the sales aspect of things.
I can also use of my former managers as a reference, and my other manager said she would be more than willing to provide a letter of recommendation for me. I would be more comfortable using one of the other girls as a reference instead of the manager, though.
