@princessbelle:  wait, the receptionist told you this? Is it office policy to not do blood tests until a certain number of days post ovulation? It seems really strange to me that a receptionist would be the one to say whether or not you should come in for a test, unless there was some sort of office policy backing her up. Not really her area of expertise, know what I mean?

Either way, she sounds like a bit of a c-word. Sorry you had to put up with her. :/ Is there any way you can leave a message for a nurse to call you back instead?

@princessbelle:  I’ve heard lots of drs offices say things like this/don’t do a blood test until a certain amount of days past a missed period. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to wait a week or two.

@princessbelle:  can you call other dr offices? Maybe a different GYN would be able to help you…

you might just not have ovulated, or had delayed ovulation… I had 2 random cycles like that over the last 13…. Even with my temps and charts I thought I had done everything right and so I must have been pregnant, but a blood draw the following month proved me wrong… I’ve been regular since but some times your body is just weird 🙁

@princessbelle:  Can’t you make an appointment without stating the reason?  Here, they just want to know if it’s a physical or not, as those take longer.

i have to agree with the doctor here. If you were 17 days overdue for a period then yes, i would force it. But you might have ovulated later than you thought so i dont see the necessity of a blood test this early.

Add: I find this issue very frustrating btw… You’re the second bee to complain this month! I don’t understAnd how they can refuse service, especially when you have to pay for it!!! It’s like ordering a hamburger from McDonalds and having the cashier deny you because they don’t think you’re really hungry… Wtf is it ANY of your business which services we choose to spend our money on…. *end rant*

@princessbelle:  My sister thought she was pregnant once (it turned out to be a false-positive). But after taking the home test and getting a BFP she called the doctor immediately to have it confirmed (she was only 18). They, too, refused to have her come in. I found it strange, but I can see why they would want to wait a certain number of days.

I would try another clinic! That receptionist should not have been so rude, that is totally unprofessional.

@princessbelle:  She is probably misunderstanding you, call and ask for a call back from a Nurse, receptionistss have no idea what they are talking about .. They should not be say what you can and cannot have over the phone anyway ..

@princessbelle:  I just had to go through the same ordeal with Kaiser. Apparently they don’t do blood HCg tests unless you are going through a fertility treatment with them. The nurse also claimed that the blood and urine test was the same, which we all know is NOT true.

I had to fight for my blood test and sadly it was a BFN but at least I had piece of mind as I was about 10 days late and no sign of AF in sight. It is your money and your body so if you want a blood HCg test talk to your doctor and tell them your reasons.

First, I know this is frustrating for you, and I do agree that the doctor should do the test since you want it.

But, I really don’t think you ovulated on CD10. I just looked back on your charts and your past O dates are on days 28, 36, 26 and one cycle FF didn’t detect an O at all. You’ve got dotted crosshairs (which I bet would go away if you removed that EWCM from CD8.

I think O somewhere between CD20 and CD26 is more likely based on your chart and on past cycles.
