@roxy821: i didn't realize you only tested once! They say you often surge in the afternoon. I only got 1 positive the month I OPKd and it was in the afternoon. I O'd by the next morning.
I also tested 2-3 times a day, because I'm crazy. Once when I just woke up with FMU, once around 4 or 5, and once right before bed. I didn't always make it 4 hours without peeing, though, sometimes I would test with a 2 or 3 hour hold. Both times we got BFPs I had gotten the +OPK with FMU, but I know it's more common to get them in the afternoon. I just had a stockpile of the cheap Wondfo's, so I used them often.
@Mrs Green Grass- Yes. I have interstitial cystitis, which makes me have to pee very frequently as well as I suffer from UTI's on a regular basis, and had to go off all of my medication so after holding if for almost 4 hours I am very close to vomiting and then later in the night I have trouble going because for my body that is a long time to hold it. So I guess that's why I get more frustrated of doing this every day and still not getting a + especially when my temperatures look like there is a possibility I O'd. Since this would be the first time I O'd since going off the pill in August I would be so down if I missed it. We didn't BD much this month due to illnesses and travel but we did BD on Thurs, Sat, and Sun and temps are pointing towards an O on Sunday.
i use them once a day with FMU and so far I got a positive each month.
one more thing: not sure if it makes a difference but so far i've only used the clearblue digital (smiley) tests. i think it says on their package that you can use them in the morning. so that is what i'm doing.

The month I got pregnant I was using them twice a day, and used the smileys. Before that, I had been using the regular ones with the line, and was only testing once a day.
Looks like a couple of you are using FMU. I thought you weren't supposed to but I guess it's worth a try to test 2x a day.
I test only once a day. My RE require that I use OPKs(ClearBlue). Now I tested @ 5pm when I got home from work and I always caught my surges. But I also track my CM and have ovulation cramps.
I use 1/day most of the time and go to 2/day if I'm having other signs of ovulation such as EWCM and a high, soft cervix.
I used 2 per day once I knew O was getting close, one with FMU (I know that it's not recommended but I just did it "for fun" ha) and one at around 6pm with a 4 hour urine hold. I would usually catch a surge on the evening one and get another positive the next morning as well.

Do you use OPK's and how many times a day?
I think I may have O'd according to my temps and I didn't get a positive OPK. So in doing some research I am seeing suggestions to test 2x daily. So basically if you were to test 2x in the afternoon as recommended, let's say 1 and 6, then you couldn't drink (or eat if you need to have a drink with food) from 9am-1pm and then again from 2pm-6pm. So you can only eat/drink/go to the bathroom before 9am and after 6pm. This seems insane!
