I’m hoping someone might have a magical solution for the conundrum I’m in.
My fiancé and I currently live in Europe. We are getting married in San Diego (where I’m from) next summer. Some of our guests will be traveling from Europe, some from various places in the US, and many live in San Diego. We don’t expect gifts (especially not from our guests that are going through the trouble of traveling so far to share our day with us), but I would like to register somewhere as I’m sure some of them are set on giving a gift. Does anyone know of any registry that will ship internationally?
I’d like to just register at Macy’s and call it a day, but despite the fact that they ship internationally, they do not ship internationally for wedding registries. Amazon seemed like it might be a solution, but according to their FAQ only some items ship to international addresses and it seems difficult to tell which items these are. Registering somewhere where we live isn’t really an option because there is essentially only one store that does wedding registries, and they are outrageously priced plus their website does not have an English language option.
I’m ready to just give up and not register anywhere, but I know that at least some of my family will be asking where we are registered. So… I thought I would ask here in the hopes that someone has been in my shoes and found a solution. Help!
I should also mention that we are hopefully eventually going to move to the US, but not for probably at least 5 years. So I guess it is an option to register in the US and store everything until we move back, but there is no absolute guarantee this move will be possible… plus it seems a little ridiculous to register for things we won’t be able to use for years. I would feel pretty weird about doing that.
