Our wedding is April 2010...so when do I start a registry? I dont want to start too soon because I want the items to still be on there when people start to look for one...im sure the bridal shower wont be until next yr...so when should I start one? Any 2010 brides who already started one?

I dont think it hurts to start early. I scoffed when people told me to register right away because I thought that looked so eager for gifts. But then we had an engagement party in December 07 (got engaged end of Oct 07) and all these people brought gifts... and were saying they tried to find a registry for us... And now looking back I wish we'd registered for even just a few things we'd have known back then that we wanted. It just would have made more sense then having some of these random things. I say just register somewhere for some picture frames you like, and some bowls or serverware or blankets or something and then worry about REALLY digging in and registering later. You don't have to do it all at once. I can't even tell you how many things I've added and deleted to/from our registry in the last year and a half. Enjoy!

I think you can register early - but keep an eye on your registries. We had many items at Target that are no longer available. :( We didn't seem to have that problem at Macy's or Bed Bath and Beyond, however.

I agree with August15bride... we registered in March for our July wedding and a lot of things got discontinued at Target and Crate and Barrel. You just have to keep an eye on it and update it when things get discontinued.

I would say go ahead and register. Your only about 9/10 months away. This way, you don't have to worry about it as it gets closer to the holidays. Just keep an eye on things to make sure items don't get discontinued.

I've started on a few basics at BB&B and Target & Amazon.  I'm waiting until the 8 month mark or so before I start registering for other things like decor and stuff.  I'm worried about falling in love with stuff only to have it discontinued before the wedding.

My wedding was in April and I started in January.  We had a shower in mid-February so I wanted to create it in time for guests to buy shower gifts.  Even though we only did it three months before our wedding date, there were still items that were discontinued or sold out.  "Seasonal" stores like Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn change their inventory often, so be sure to check your registry to make sure everything you've registered for is still around.

Thanks again ladies...I just created our registry @ Kohls and BB&B!!! Its tough thinking of things you need when you have been living together and you already have so many things. I also made sure there was a good price range on there that everyone can afford. What are some things you put on yours? I def saw some things on there that I love and Im hoping they dont discontinue! But it was fun making one and looking for things!

PS Mrs. Kitten I saw your pictures on your photographers blog...so amazing! I love the colors and the beach photos...and your dress. You and your husband look great together. And I love your bridesmaids dresses! Everyone just looks like they had a great time...I hope the same for our wedding!
