I don't really know about etiquite but I think it sounds like great option. I'd be pleased as an attendee to be able to get you what you really want.
i also am not sure about the etiquette, but i agree with backyardbride. as a guest, i would enjoy being able to finish off the set for you. i think the explanation is well worded - clear and kind.
It sounds great to me, and I'm kind of an ettiquette stickler. It's almost as though you're adding another registry and it happens to be your Lenox Wish List. Your wedding website is a great place to spread the word. I hope you get all your remaining pieces!
It sounds great to me! Since you have a wedding website, it will make it very easy to make your point -- also, I am pretty sure most people will really want to help you finish your set since you already took the trouble to purchase most of it yourself! There is no problem having three registries, and adding the wish list is just like adding another regsitry (like ErinSea said). I did something similar with Pampered Chef -- I'm not actually registered there, but there are a few items I have "wished" for my bridal shower.
good luck!

I found out that the china pattern that we registered for will no longer be carried by either stores we were working on registries with (Macy's and Bed Bath and Beyond). I was REALLY disappointed. It's not been discontinued by the manufacturer (Lenox) though so it's still available elsewhere but not at any stores I'm finding convenient to register with. It's actually still available at Macy's website but they said probably not for long.
Anyway, here's the kicker: I found it online for 75% off and ordered 16 place settings for the pieces they had -- most of a regular place setting!!! Kinda silly to buy your own gifts, huh? Now what I want to do is add to the list of registries on my wedding website, a link to my "Wish List" on Lenox and ask people to help us fill out the set. Etiquitte-wise, would it be weird to do that? I wrote an explanation to go with it but perhaps that's also weird.
Here is my explanation for public consumption:
*Link to Lenox Wish List*
This deserves a bit of explanation. One of the first things we decided on was a china pattern. Not one to normally get excited about china, I was surprised at how much I really liked it. What really surprised me is that David did too! Then, in late April, we learned that both stores we were working on registries at were discontinuing this pattern but at this time, Lenox is still making it. We were able to find a large amount of it at a great discount and bought what pieces were available there--but we are missing a few things for each place setting and the serving pieces. Our "Wish List" at Lenox can be used to help us complete the set of beautiful china pieces.
I really love this china and that's why I was SO disappointed when it became clear that it was no longer going to be availalbe...I think one nice thing about this is that if some of our friends that are looking on the lower $ spectrum for gifts see this, they could buy us one or two pieces and it's a great gift that we really want!
I am pretty clueless and also a bit unconcerned with etiquette but I don't really want to offend anyone.... I leave it to you, hive!
