FI and I are totally clueless about registries! I’d put a poll but I don’t even know all the common places people register. I got an email the other day about a free event at Crate and Barrel where we get appetizers and drinks and can walk around and set up our registry before the store opens to the public, and there is a similar thing the week after at Macy’s. So we’re going to both events, and I figured we would just end up setting up the registries at those two places.
Today I was looking at C&B’s shipping costs and they seem to be outrageous! I clicked on a random person’s registry and added a $100 sheet set to my cart and shipping was $16.95. That’s a ton right? So now I am second guessing our registry choices, and I realize I should probably do some more research before deciding (though free drinks and appetizers are still really really tempting).
So bees – where did you all end up registering? Pros and cons? Any regrets, or were you happy with your choices? Did you consider certain places and then decide against them? I’m sure there’s a post like this in the past, but I couldn’t find anything with a quick search, so help out us new clueless bees set up the best registries!!

I registered at Belk, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Target. Since you are from the North, I don’t think you have a Belk, but Macy’s is pretty much the same thing. We almost registered there, but there is only two in the whole State, so we decided not to. I have heard great things about them though, so I would go for Macy’s. Also, BB&B has been great! I love their website. You can manage everything online and it is super easy to navigate, so I would most definitely recommend them, as well.
I DO NOT recommend Target. We have had several issues with them already about things scanning incorrectly and then they take forever to delete off. Also, when a guest buys a gift off your registery, it could take WEEKS to update, so there is a chance that you would get double gifted, and they only give you store credit even if you have the receipt.
I haven’t heard much about C&B, but it seems to be a great place, but maybe a bit pricey. Good luck with your registry!

We did C&B, Bed/Bath/Beyond, Macy’s, and Target. I recommend NOT doing Target. The others were great and we haven’t had a single issue. Target has been nothing but a nightmare.

I second the issues with Target! We registered at BBB, Dillard’s (not sure if you have those up North, but it’s a department store like Macy’s), and Sears (for FI’s tools haha). We also have a registry on giftregistry360.com. It complies registries from several major retailers (Macy’s, JC Penny, Williams-Sonoma, Target, Bloomingdale’s, and Crate and Barrel I think, there may be more too but I can’t remember) Plus you can add things to it that are on websites that you may not be able to set up a registry at. We really liked it so we could add some things from different stores and for example we have a TON of stuff from Williams-Sonoma, a handful of things from Target and JCPenny on there plus some things that are from stores that don’t have registries. That way it shows that we’re registered at 4 places (BBB, Dillard’s, Sears, and giftregistry360.com) and it doesn’t seem like we’re registered at a million places when in actuality we have items from several different stores. So far there haven’t been any issues with people having trouble navigating everything 🙂

@Earlybride: You should! I’ve recommended it to my friends who are getting married and tons of people on here. I love it! I really like the fact that we can add things from websites that don’t have registries.

I am going to do Bed Bath and Beyond, My friend did Macy’s and she said it was horrible because she had a few items damaged during delivery and Macy’s didnt want to try and help out in any way with the items…. It was a bad experience

Bed, Bath, & Beyond has been FABULOUS!! Nice welcome package, great customer service, free gift wrapping for your guests, easy to navigate website, registry stays up for 2 years post-wedding, and most importantly the 20% off coupons!!

Super helpful comments everyone, thanks!!! It looks like we will check out BB&B as well.
@MrsB-to-Be: So could you just combine all of your registries onto giftregistry360? Any reason why you kept the other 3 separate? I am trying to cut down on confusing people with multiple registry pages… my family is quite technologically challenged haha
