Every wedding I have been to, I always give a card with money. And it seemed like evreyone else did the same thing. I had some people ask me if I already registered. I didn’t plan to since my wedding will be a destination wedding and my family and bridesmaids live far and won’t be able to throw a bridal shower for me. And I’m ok with that. But I’m confunsed why some people asked me if I registered if they know I probably won’t be having a bridal shower. Are registry gifts for one or the other or both?

They can be for anything. Some people do cash for the wedding, others might want to see if there are specific things you need/want.

It’s for both!
I’m fairly certain most people will give money at the wedding, but I’ve had several people purchase off the registry for both the wedding AND the bridal showers!

and some people do give gifts for the wedding off the registry but have them sent directly to the couples house.

I’ve always used it for both. It’s why you should try to update your registry before the wedding.

Definitely both. Some people (myself included) don’t like to or won’t gift cash for anything.

Even if you’re not having a shower, I would create a registry. People will probably send gifts to your house, even if they’re not attending the wedding and a shower is not being thrown. Some people, the older generation especially, seem to love buying gifts for a wedding and to help them out/ensure you get what you want, a registry is best.
