We registered at Bloomingdale’s for our Wedgewood china back in February, but we were not told our pattern was on backorder. Several guests purchased placesettings for us more than 2 months ago and we still have not received them. We’ve received a couple inconsistent automated emails from Bloomie’s saying that the gift is on backorder and giving us an estimated ship date. Some of these ship dates have come and gone and the latest email said the ship date would be October 14th! I am disappointed b/c it seems that we will not get even half of our china b/c guests are discouraged by the “ships in 48 days” tag. I called Bloomie’s to find out what was going on and apparently there is a big manufacturing delay at Wedgewood. At this point, I wonder if I should be concerned that the china still won’t be available at our 6-month mark, when the registry completion discount expires.
Has anyone else had this problem with their registry or Wedgewood, specifically?
What did you do about gifts on backorder? Should I send thank yous now and again when we finally receive the gift?

We had the exact same problem with Bloomingdales (we chose a Haviland pattern). Someone purchased a piece in March and we got a card saying it would come in October! It wound up coming quite a few months sooner than that, but it was frustrating.
My sister-in-law used UpscaleGallery.com to register for china, and we finally just switched our china registry over to them. The china is much less expensive and arrived faster. I think their ability to deliver china within a time frame varies by pattern; they request that you contact them by email to find out how long your specific pattern will take. The Haviland has been quite fast. You can fill out a bridal registry, and add it to your website but it won’t appear on any of the national registry sites like weddingchannel.com . Good luck!

My wedding isn’t until over a year from now, but I’ve been engaged a while and our engagment party is next month so I was encouraged to register for that (by my FIs big, wealthy, pushy Greek family lol)…
anyways, we just registered for a Wedgwood china pattern I’m in love with at Macy’s. It says “estimated ship date” of 108 days!! So maybe this is typical of Wedgwood?
Have patience, Cantabrigian, I’m sure it’s worth the wait 🙂 Fingers crossed that it arrives at your door soon!
