@Misswhowedding:

What do you wish you put on?

Nothing, really. We had three fairly extensive registries that covered basically everything. We’ve been married about 7 weeks now and haven’t noticed anything post-wedding that we wish we had put on.

What do you wish you left off?

Nothing, really. People didn’t buy us certain things that we wish they had, but we wouldn’t have taken anything off just because it was ‘taking up space’.

What didn’t you get that you really wanted?

Our comforter set and our flatware. Not a single person bought us flatware. We also really wanted our Kitchenaid mixer, but we aren’t surprised no one dropped $350 on it. We also would have liked for people to have purchased our fine china, but we got all our casual dinnerware and most people opted for cash, so it was fine. (We used the cash to purchase our comforter set and pay off our honeymoon.)

What have you never used?

So far we haven’t used a lot of our gifts because we’re in a tiny apartment and can’t unpack everything. However, we’ll be in a house in a year or two and plan to use everything!

Things we use and love:

The Roomba! Best gift ever.

Our ultra fancy toaster that also makes eggs.

Things we never use:

Ice cream maker–It’s WAY more expensive to make ice cream than it is to buy it!

We also only got 7 gifts off our registry… Everyone else at our wedding gave cash!

@BrandNewBride:  I’m sorry… but a toaster that make eggs?! wth?! That’s craziness!

@springbride23:  It’s a four-slice toaster with a breakfast sandwich maker on the side (that also makes poached and hard boiled eggs!) Believe it or not, I use it CONSTANTLY.  I can hardboil 8 eggs at once in less than 10 minutes! And there’s NO clean up for hardboiled eggs.

It’s also completely insane.

We only registered for smaller items that we needed around the house (i.e. spatulas, cooling racks, etc) and a few larger kitchen items (i.e. pots and pans, small appliances, etc) because we specifically told people that their presence was enough of a gift, since 90% of our guests had to travel.  We ended up getting mostly checks/cards, so it worked out, but one of our favorite gifts is a set of copper bottom pans.  I think they key thing is to register only for things that you’ll actually use/want.

@BrandNewBride:  I definitely need this. I suck at hardboiling eggs but LOVE them. What brand is yours?

What do you wish you put on?

Nothing that wasn’t already on there.

What do you wish you left off?

Nothing. I liked everything we registered for.

What didn’t you get that you really wanted?

I really wanted our knife set, which was $750 haha. No one got it -we actually got all cash for our wedding, though gifts were purchased for our showers. DH’s parents did just go on our registry and purchase the knives as part of our Christmas present though! So excited! LOL.

We also only received 4 out of 6 sets of our flatware. But the last 2 were just purchased as Christmas gifts as well.

And lastly – our toaster. Its fancy and pricey so we aren’t surprised that no one bought it. We plan to just get it ourselves

What have you never used?

We’ve used everything. I was careful not to register for things that weren’t practical.

@TwoStatesBride:  We had issues getting our flatware as well! I had to tell my mom to suggest it to people if they asked-I guess people think it’s boring? Now, as a wedding guest, that is going to be one of the first things I get for the couple 🙂

@Misswhowedding:  oh yeah, my MIL got us an ice cream maker, and we’ll probably never use it. we may sell it.

@ecjohnson:  same. i learned a lot. my friend is getting married in September and I plan to either 1) buy her flatware or 2) finish any sets of dishes that are half-completed. it drives me nuts when people buy 8 of 12 dishes or 4 of 8 pieces of stemware. WHYYYYY

What do you wish you put on?

I wish I had asked for a full size food processor. I got a mini one and it doesn’t do very much.

What do you wish you left off?

I asked for WAYY too many serving dishes that matched our every day dishes. I hope we will use some of them one day…

What didn’t you get that you really wanted?

I actually didn’t ask for it, but I would have loved to get fine china. I just needed everything to start a house, so we couldn’t justify asking for $100 place settings when I needed everything else. I also would have liked a nicer knife set.

What have you never used?

We live in a tiny apartment, so I haven’t had a chance to pull out some of our bigger kitchen items (waffle maker, Kitchenaid, etc.) or have many guests over. Also, I asked for wine glasses to entertain with, and I think they’ve been used twice. I hope to move into a bigger home soon, though, so I am glad that we have these things.
