I admit it, I've been registry stalking. My shower is Saturday and items are slowly being bought.

Anybody find it hard to act surprised at your shower??

My name is Sarah and I was a registry stalker (and still am even though my wedding is over!)  I completely understand :)  However, STOP looking at your registry from now until after your shower! Please!  My friend made me stop one week before my shower and Im so glad that I did.  A lot of the gifts were bought the day before or the day of and since I stopped looking I was genuinely surprised by the gifts.  I promise you will enjoy it so much more if you can not look at your registry for just 6 more days!  Then look at it all you want after :)

I'm afraid I'm stalking too.  Things won't be bought off of it for my shower so at least I don't have to feign surprise.  I should still cut myself off though!

I know I should stop. I'll try really hard. But being home alone all day, I get bored! Though I have plenty of wedding projects to work on!

I know what you mean, sometimes I would be alone at work all day with nothing to do so I would check it literally 3-4 times a day.  Im surprised I lasted a whole week without looking at it.  I even had them bookmarked.  When you want to look, tell yourself not to and try to do something else instead.  Have a great shower Saturday!

i looked right up until the day before the shower, but a TON of stuff was bought day of so i was still surprised!  also, a lot of people bought off registry which made for some really awesome, unique gifts!

Haha, I stalked, but didn't realize the shower was SO soon -- because we received mostly gift cards from the mister's family, so the registries didn't look like too much had been purchased (because it wasn't!).

I PLAN to stalk so I know what is left in-stock/in-season so I can update as needed. I don't think it will deter from any surprises. I always like to add a little extra something in gifts I give others... like a bottle of wine with wine glasses or dry ingredients with cookie cutters... I think it will be fun to see if others do this too!

I just registered last week. I'm thinking I will have a rough time NOT stalking... but I won't feel as guilty if I know that I'm not the only one. Why didn't someone tell me registering would be so much fun?!?!

(And no arguments with the Mister!) Success!

I've become a stalker. We actually were shipped some of our china yesterday and it's broken into tiny pieces :( My shower is next weekend and things are starting to come off the list. Lots of our guests have sent us gifts since receiving invites and STD congratulating us in advance...and we're VERY tempted to start using the news gifts...but are still holding back.

I absolutely stalk...and I'm glad I do!   My shower is in two weeks, and sometimes watching a bride open gifts is so boring!   I'm hoping that if I know what is coming in advance, I'll have something to *say* about the gifts.   Because let's be honest, they aren't all that exciting sometimes.  (ooh...water glasses)   I'm hoping that I'll be able to say something to spice it up a bit!

I definitely was a registry stalker. I found that it was not hard to act surprised because I didn't know who bought each item, so there is a small element of surprise left.

I was a registry stalker too, and I remember about a week before my last shower I was shocked that nothing new was purchased.  Then I got REALLY busy and couldn't stalk, and I was surprised and thrilled!!  Definitely give yourself a week buffer where you can.

I stalked until the day before the shower!

I was still surprised b/c I didn't know who got what gift.  I was also surprised because we got a LOT of wonderful gifts that weren't on our registry!

Hi, my name is sweetkate and I am a stalker. I look at my registry every. single. day. Sometimes more than once. It's gotten worse now that my wedding is less than 2 weeks away. I looked at it before my shower but I was still able to act suprised when I opened gifts. =)

I peeked until like 4 days beforehand...I was still really surprised at gifts AND a lot of people bought unique non-registry gifts that I utimately really loved too!

I have a feeling I'll be a stalker. I'm not having a shower until October, but I have a feeling I'll start peeking at them in a few weeks...even though I feel like I shouldn't! But as others mentioned - it isn't like I'll know who gave me which gifts, so I'll still be surprised, right? ;)

We haven't registered yet, but I definitely have been registry stalking other people's registries! For one, it gives me good ideas on what we want. It also is fun to giggle at some of the silly things people register for, namely useless kitchen tools- special avacado cutters, vegetable specific things, etc. Smile Never underestimate the power of good knives. Another thing that it helps with is getting an idea on is what people register for vs. what people buy for them. I know a lot can be couple/guest list specific, but it sort of averages out.

Er I just peeked again and more stuff has been bought since my shower.  It's so fun but I think I need an intervention!

I'm sure I'll be a stalker!! But you shouldn't be surprised, people these days are procrastinators (me) and will buy the gift the day of (before the party) or better yet, if not a lot of things are bought it could mean your getting MONEY instead!

Ugh! I stalked my registry, got excited about gifts I thought I would receive at my shower, and then didn't get until after the wedding. It was kind of a letdown. There was some rumor that someone told guests of my shower that the gifts should be linens-related (a tradition? it wasn't the theme). We didn't register for any linens, only towels b/c we couldn't agree on any sheet sets or whatever. So, I ended up getting a bunch of "unique" table linens some of which I like and others that I don't. Also, no one got us any of our china b/c it was on backorder, which I somehow didn't realize in all of my stalking.

GaBGal --I wish you came to my shower. I love those little extras that make the gift stand out. I do that, too. Unfortunately no one at my shower did.

Wow, I sound really ungrateful --I'm really not!

I'm not a stalker yet...but when it gets to be shower and wedding time? I can't imagine I'll be strong enough to stay away! Considering i'm on WB hours every day...yeah.

Not much has been bought off of our registry so I'm thinking we'll be very surprised. It's a coed shower and the hostesses spread the word that for my fiance, to get gift cards from home imporovement stores. He's got all the tools and guy stuff but needs materials. I'm trying really hard not to stalk. But it's very hard.

I looked at my registry right before my shower.  Then I was surprised when some of the things weren't at the shower (who bought these other things?)

So I've heard that there is a way to find out who bought what off your registry?  Anyone know how?

Oh I totally did that for my engagement party! But I told my mother. And she spilled the beans to her friend. And some people were upset I found out prior to the party. So if you are going to do it, don't tell anyone!

Hahaha! We've just recently started planning our wedding and we're pre-registry shopping already! We've gone into a few stores and started picking stuff out, even though our estimated wedding date isn't until Sept. 2010! Am I the only one?!?! I just love those little laser tag guns!

I stalked mine, but we made it because we had to have something else registered for the shower.  I was still excited to get it at the shower, though.  You don't have to act surprised, just as long as they can see you're happy about the gift.  Hahahahaha.  Stalker.  That's funny.  Ahem!

I can't wait to register. I want to wait until Jan, but the FI wants to sooner. & I'm sure I'll stalk. I'm afraid it will take the fun out of showers though. I'll definitely be checking the registry after each shower to make sure it is correct.
