I’m about to look for string lighting for my outdoor reception, as we’re stringing about 10 strands of lights from the house into the trees. I originally wanted the ‘cafe’ globe lights, but they’re just WAY too expensive.
Has anyone used ‘regular’ Christmas lights, and have it turn out looking nice? I’m trying to find a nice, cheap alternative, while not looking hodge-podge.

My wedding planner used them for my wedding. They looked great! Honestly, I don’t think people will notice what type of lights they are. They will only notice that there are lights and it was beautiful.

Do you have a picture? It’s hard to visualize what it’ll look like 🙁
also – did you use white or green strands?? Thank you!

Christmas lights are just fine! These were the standard Christmas lights (the large ones). What you see in the far background are the Christmas icicle lights hanging from a chain link fence (around a pool).
And these are the globe lights (plus sparklers and tiki torches 🙂 which were in a different are of the beach:

@napabridekelsey: I don’t have any pics to post. I can’t remember if the string was green or white. Sorry

@napabridekelsey: The lights in my photos had green strings; I think they look much better because the strings blend in with the trees.

We used “regular” X-mas lights behind the white tables cloths (on our cake table, gift table, head table, etc) so the lights shone through but you couldn’t see the cords/wires.
This is the only picture I have on this computer where you can see them:

@trugem: no worries!
@NotYourTypicalBride: Yeah, I feel like the white will stand out like a sore thumb up in the air! Good call.
@Mrs.KMM: thank you!
I just ordered these, and see if they give off enough light. It’s a big yard to light up! I love that they’re long, give off warm light and aren’t super expensive.
I’ll let you know.
Any other bees with christmas lights, please post pictures! I’d love more consolation 🙂

I have over 500 feet of Christmas lights if you are interested in purchasing.
They are the “standard” ones on green cable/wire. Only used for one event and perfectly maintained, but not in original boxes as they took too much space to store. There was a sheer organza overlay for a subdued lighting effect. All you notice is the soft glow.
Selling lot for $125 plus S/H.
12 strands of 100 lights
3 strands of 10 lights
3 strands of 150 lights (I think I may have 1 or 2 remaining.Wll need to double check)
1 strand of 222 lights (this one is combined)
All connect and I will throw in extra bulbs. Let me know!
