@sexymama118:  You and I are so alike!  I am also switching from YG to Palladium!  I was deciding between Classic and FB Moissy, and I ultimately chose Classic (haven’t ordered yet–humph).  I’m not sure how much you know about the changes to Moissy in the last few months, so here’s a summary from a few emails between me and C&C.  Hope this helps!

C&C: Forever Brilliant was launched in June 2012.  It was our classic moissanite that was treated to remove the color.  The process did not change the optical properties, except to make it whiter & brighter.  As of 2013 the rough moissanite has been vastly improved to such a degree that treatment is no longer necessary.  Therefore, our Forever Brilliant is now not treated yet is still whiter & brighter than the classic moissanite.  Also, the Forever Brilliant still has the properties of the classic moissanite such as harder than a ruby or sapphire & tough as a diamond, ruby & sapphire.

Me: So the new rough is improved, and the resulting untreated stones are sorted into two categories–regular (sold as classic) and the whitest/best (sold as FB)?  Is that correct?

C&C: You are correct. The only thing I would add is that all of our stones – classic (original) and FB are both “unenhanced”.  The difference is in the color grading.

All moissanite (Classic & FB) are graded as “near-colorless” – G-H-I-J.  FB will grade in the higher tier of course.  But all moissanite will have some warmth to the stone.  It is part of the sparkle and beauty of the stone.

As moissanite is not diamond it should not be graded on the diamond scale.  But if you are looking for letter grades then yes, Classic would range in the I-J and FB in the G-H.  The only issue with this is that it all depends on the shape & size.  A marquise, pear and radiant will always have more color than a round.  So the scale would slide depending on shape & size.

@sexymama118:  And I guess I should comment on my current ring.  I got a 1/2c Moissy from JCP (which apparently had the worst Moissy when they sold it).  It’s Classic, and it’s 100% beautiful all of the time!  If I can get away with the Classic from JCP, then I’m sure I’ll be fine with another classic.

PS.  Is your date correct?  June of 2008?  I was July of 2008!  We really are twins!

@BHB0526:  Gorgeous!  Thinking of going mois wband w/ my diam ering.  Stones like yours have my mouse arrow two seconds away from the ‘add to cart’ lol.

@sweetpotata:  That’s probably the matching band for my ring!

Is it like this?

@BHB0526:  God, love the set!  Congrats!  Had been going for a similar slender wband myself – one plain that matches FIs and the other a blingly that almost exactly like yours.  Been ‘carting’ it for 3 months now!

Your set is just beautiful.  Nice job

@sexymama118:  Those are a lot of options!  Your stone will definitely pick up the color of the metal.  My current YG ring actually has WG prongs, which I guess is pretty common, so that the stone will pick up the WG color rather than the YG.

I am keeping my 1/2c Moissy in my YG setting exactly the way it is.  Call it an heirloom, keepsake, whatever.  I don’t want it changed at all.  My new ring is going to be 1.25c classic moissy in palladium.  That way any color in the moissy is played down by the palladium color.  What are you leaning toward doing?

@sexymama118:  That’s tough.  When you say “have my regular stones set in palladium,” do you mean that you’d keep your stones and get a whole new semi-mount?  Which one?  Could you get money for your YG?  Or would you plate your YG in palladium?
