- Wedding: May 2014
So I have run into a bit of a sticky situation. We are having a Catholic wedding, full mass (at insistance of my mom, I would be fine with with a shorter cermony)
Now here is the problem(s)
The parish priest where we are having our wedding is taking off Friday and Saturday for a friend’s wedding. My uncle who is also a priest will be doing the wedding. So, the wedding part is fine, but my this weekend my uncle tells me that he may not be able to do our rehersal. Now, when we first talked with him about it, he seemed okay with doing the rehersal, and said that Friday night would work, so we booked a rehersal dinner for the appropriate time on Friday night. Now, there is no one to run the rehersal. The parish is small and doesn’t have a wedding coordinator.
We can get in the church and run through some stuff Friday night still. We know the people who have the key, and they will be willing to open it up for us. My parents, my FI and myself are the only regular church attending Catholics in our wedding party. FI’s parents are non-practicing Catholics. My brother has only been to church twice in the last year. The rest of our wedding party is Pagan, agnostic and mormon. We don’t even have a protestant in the wedding party. This is going to be the first Catholic wedding most of them have been to, let alone been in.
Anyone have any suggestions for what they would do in my situation? I’m getting kind of stressed.
