Hi amysue.
We are using El Fenix (the Downtown Dallas location). They just finished their 'Fenix Room' and we found it to be exactly what we were looking for! If you are interested, contact Nancy Pierce. We initially looked at Iron Cactus Downtown because we were also thinking Tex-Mex, but found them to be pricey.
About Snuffers- I'm vegetarian I get the veggie burger :)
Either way, good luck!
Hi AmySue, =)
We love going to La Calle Doce, if you've never been it's this cute white house that was renovated into a Mexican Restaurant. The fajitas for two (Plato Especial) is AMAZING!! ...the menu says fajitas for 2 but I think it could actually feed 4! ..it's served on a hot plate over an open flame.
I haven't booked yet but I'm thinking this will be the location for our rehersal dinner... there's a nice courtyard that can be reserved for private parites. I belive the fee is around $150 and on Friday/Saturday nights there are often marachis (spelling??) on site... so your guest could possibly have some live entertainment =)

Good Luck!
We wanted Mexican too. We looked at the downtown El Fenix but didn't like the event space at the time. That was almost a year ago so it appears that they have given it a facelift, per the previous post. We also looked at Matito's, Gloria's on Lemmon, and Iron Cactus.
We landed at Celebration and it was great. We had several menu options (including one or two Mexican, I think), a private room, kid's menus, great service and they let me bring in two cakes from our wedding cake baker. It was nice to have comfort food for our travelers and Dallasites know that they have the best vegetables! Our guests loved the food and we were very happy with their prices.
Hope this helps!

Hi ladies! We're trying to find a good rehearsal dinner spot for about 30 people within a 20 minute drive of the the Northpark Mall area. We're leaning toward Mexican; our first choice was Mattito's, but unfortuntely they're booked for our date. We don't want something as casual as pizza but we don't have the budget for a steakhouse.
Any suggestions? If I had my way, I'd take everybody to Snuffer's and say screw it -- but unfortunately, two people in our bridal party are vegetarians. : P
