- Wedding: January 2008
My fiance’s (very large) family is enthusiastic about being involved with our wedding — which is very nice, but can be too much sometimes. His aunts and uncles are very insistent on hosting (and thus paying for) our rehearsal dinner. My ideal rehearsal dinner was just to have a small intimate dinner with only the wedding party, but the aunts & uncles have turned it into a full-blown affair where everyone is invited. They asked me to make sure I include an insert with our invitation to the rehearsal dinner, but now it seems they want not just an insert, but a whole invitation with all of their names printed on it (which would be 10 names b/c there are 5 sets of aunts/uncles). They are very insistent that their names be including on this rehearsal dinner insert/invite, but I think it’s just weird. My invitations are very simple and modern, and I had just wanted to include a simple insert with the rehearsal dinner infor. I don’t want to clutter the invitation by including a whole other invitation with several names listed on it — besides, it’s just the rehearsal dinner! How should I handle these crazy aunts & uncles?
