Forgot to mention: it will be a group of 10-15, not too big :)
This is going to be *really* hard. I think the thing to do is to find an inexpensive restaurant you like (I can't think of any in Pasadena with this price cap and those food genres that aren't extremely casual burger joints) and ask them if they can do a pre fix menu where you select items that are $8 or $12 per plate ahead of time and let people choose only from that limited menu. Maybe Burger Continental? It's not Italian but it is Mediterranean...
ETA: I only know Pasadena; maybe there are more options in Arcadia that I don't know about?
Thanks Miss Spaniel, that is a really good idea. I know this is going to be really hard, at this point I'm thinking impossible but thought I'd give it a shot. I'm in San Francisco so I can't exactly scope places out too well... but thanks, I had not considered that!! :)
Oh wow, even harder!! But I thought of something!
The Dish is a pretty good restaurant in La Canada (just north of Pasadena) with entrees between $8 and $13. It should be pretty easy to come up with a good selection of entrees that average out to $10 per plate. http://dishbreakfastlunchanddinner.com/
What about Bucca del Beppo in Pasadena? Family style, large quantities of pasta, good for groups.
How about California Pizza Kitchen? It's near the Westin Hotel. Or the Yard House upstairs in the Paseo?
If you're up for light fare, I like the Chado Tea Room on Raymond St. in Old Town. Soup, sandwich, scones.

Hello lovely LA bees,
I'm looking for a restaurant for our rehearsal dinner in Arcadia or Pasadena. Sounds super easy, but here's the catch(es):
-Has to be quite inexpensive, NO more than $10/plate
-Has to be good for a group & traditional rehearsal dinner vibe
-Can ONLY be American, Californian, Italian food (no Asian, no Mexican, no... well, no everything else).
My future in-laws are kindly offering to host a rehearsal dinner. They are not from the area, so they need a lot of help in finding a restaurant. They also really can't afford much -- I am really touched that they are doing this, because I know it's difficult for them to make it happen. Finally, they have a very midwest "meat & potatoes" palette, very picky eaters.
Any suggestions??? THANKS BEES!
