I, too, am looking for a rehearsal dinner location, but in Philly proper. Our guests will be staying at the Omni right across from the Liberty Bell.

Any suggestions? I’m planning from Los Angeles, I’m at the mercy of the internet!

@Reeniero:  I’m a Philly native now living in San Francisco, so I’m totally empathetic to the “planning from 3000 miles” problem. 🙂 We’re having our rehearsal dinner at City Tavern, which was way too pricey for the wedding itself. Since the vast majority of our guests will be from out of town, and most have never been to Philly, we’re trying to incorporate some historical and Philly-specific things. City Tavern was the perfect choice for us.

@kgarvin01:  I called and negotiated with them. It’s a bit pricey, but my RD is going to be fairly small so I thought it was a good splurge. The banquet gal’s name is Tahera and she’s super nice!

@kgarvin01:  No. City Tavern is more, even at the lowest package.

@kqarvin01 and @Reeniero: Have you looked for a place on Partyspace? It lists a variety of venues in the Philadelphia area from non-traditional sites like the Sedgely Club on Boathouse Row , Fairmont Park Horticultural Center and The Franklin Institute to restaurants like Fork, Moshulu, World Cafe Live and everything in between. There’s a lot of place you can rent. There’s other counties in PA and New Jersey too! It’s a great wedding resource especially if you live so far away. Congratulations!

I forgot about Partyspace! So, I looked there and found Di Bruno Bros. on Chestnut. They have an upstairs space that seats 70, so that may work for us.

Has anyone been there for a rehearsal? How is the food?

(We are Italian. Food is important!)

🙂

@MASPA:  Yay! I am happy it’s delicious! I just got a proposal from them, and I think it’s very reasonable! Looking forward to going to see the space when we are back east for Xmas. 🙂
