25 people. Am I just expecting too much for the DC area. I knew the wedding would be expensive, but I thought a dinner would be much easier.
What about Clydes? You could create a menu with 3 entree choices, order some appetizers to be served, could be about $30 pp without alcohol.
Are you looking to take over a room? In Silver Spring the Ledo Pizza chains all tend to have space (no idea if you like their food or if it is convienent for you).
I like the Clyde's idea.
There are a couple of places that don't charge a room fee. If you search the Washington Post for Tom Sietsema's chats they are in there. Also, try the Going Out Gurus chat tomorrow (1pm though you can submit questions now). Give as much detail as you can, including neighborhood.
Buca Di Beppo in Dupont comes to mind. You could take over the Pope room. That's such a fun space!
Yes, the private room part is what makes it expensive because of minimums and room fees. But we wanted a room for speeches and such. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into some of those!
I second Maggianos and Buca di Beppo -- family style always makes a fun night!
Try a good Chinese restaurant, we got appetizers (dumplings and spring rolls), entrees (5 selections served family-style) and dessert (egg custard & pineapple buns) for $25pp+tip. Also, you may want to try a Thursday evening instead of Friday evening if its a popular restaurant.
Don't know if this will help you, but I thought I'd pass it along in case someone else stumbles across this thread.
We had ours at J. Gilberts's in McLean, VA. We got the cheapest dinner package (which now is $35pp), but the food was awesome. Ours was early on Friday night (I think around 5:30pm) and they waived the min. But even still, the min was super low like less than $500.
Try Comus Inn - its a little out of the way, closer to Frederick but the room minimums are like $25 - $150 depending on the number of ppl you have. Haven't looked too far into their dinner menu? but for lunch it was approx. $17 per person with a $25 room minimum for 25 people. Cute little place

Seriously, every place I've looked is a $1500 minimum, probably more like $2000. Is there anywhere in the DC/MD area for a rehearsal dinner less than $1000? $1500 for a pizza buffet just seems ridiculous!
