We would like to open our home up to the people mentioned above the night before the wedding. We have a 1400 sq. ft house, and as of right now (there are still 83 rsvps out, but just a handful are from OOT) the immediate family, the bridal party and the Out of Town guests ammounts to 45 people. I think it could grow to up to 55, but at the same time, some peopel may not want to come.
The point is – do you think that our house is too small for something like this? We do have a backyard but it’s not pretty. there’s a covered patio but it will be late march which will mean cold at night! We could get a firepit? What do you think we should do?
We would prefer not to spend a lot of money on a formal rehearsal dinner, and I really love the idea of getting with our Out of Town guests before the wedding for introductions and everything to make them feel welcome. I am planning on having some welcome bags for them in their hotel rooms.

Gosh no! we have 55 people at our house warming, and out house is 1197 sqf. And it was full but not over crowded. We opened up our yard for more seating, and it was just fine!!

You could have an Open House- indicating that your guests are welcome to drop by between the hours of __ and __.
People will tend to come and go and likely not everyone will be there at any one time.
What time is the rehearsal? Are you planning on feeding the wedding party?

@bourkelton: We have a post-wedding luncheon/come see our new house paryt the next day and we have about 60 people on the list so far. Our home is about 1,900 square feet and I was just wondering the same thing since I would like to invite more of our friends, haha!

@bourkelton: i think it’s a great idea, and i’m sure your house isn’t too small. i second the idea of an open house between __ and __ so that people are filtering in and out – that will help with the crowded issue.
we’re doing to same – we’re hosting a welcome bbq in my parents backyard for immediate family, bridal party and out of town guests. it’ll be about 50 people (we think!) and i honestly think that people will be excited to be included, and won’t be worried about how spacious your place is!

@Nikkimcq: That makes me feel SO much better. Thank you!
@julies1949: Rehearsal is 430-6, I was planning on the Open House thing being around 7 so we would have enough time to go home and set up the food and drinks, where the wedding party would be encouraged to chow down.
@springbride23: How fun! If I were at your wedding I’d be delighted to go. I hope it goes well! And since it’s later in the year I’m sure it’ll be fine.
@peonyinlove: Cool! Thanks so much, I feel much better.
You guys are all so right about the time period thing. I think I’ll say stop by between 7p-10p? The wedding is not till 5 the next day.
THANK YOU BEES! 🙂
