So I just learned that the night of our rehearsal dinner is also opening night for the NFL. We were wanting to do something a little more casual and laid back anyways so I think the football thing will just make this easier on us all around. Has anyone ever had a rehearsal dinner (or planning one) at Piece Pizza on North Ave. It’s right by our venue (Salvage One) and it’s a brewery/pizza place all around. My thought – I want it to be a party. Relaxed, comfortable, low-key. The next day is a long one for everyone and we will be dressed up in heels all day. I want everyone to relax and bit, celebrate the festivities for the next day and do it in a fun and not formal way. However half of me thinks pizza? Beer? Rehearsal dinner? Gross. J I’m open to ideas and or thought on the matter!! I know it’s out day and we should do what we want. I just know with football half the guys will be in the bar area trying to watch the game anyways that I might as well let it play the “relaxed” theme of the night for us.

- Wedding: May 2012 - Salvage One, Chicago
@amylbutterfield: I got married at Salvage One earlier this spring; we did our ‘relaxed’ rehearsal dinner at Goose Island on Clyborn. It was a good mix of high/low brow- there were flatbreads, beer, but nice salads and their entrees are qualty but not fussy. It hit the middle mark for us and I didn’t feel too weird being in a fancy dress (just because I wanted to wear one!)
It’s still kind of close to the venue and we really easy, fun, lots of tvs for guests to wander out to in the main area if they want. We looked at Club Lucky and Pequods, too. Pequods has the best pizza in the city, imo. 🙂

Do you think Piece will be packed because of the NFL opening day? That might be a little tough but I think overall it is a good idea

I don’t like Piece. It’s loud and noisy and filled with drunken indie rockers. And I used to live smack dab in that neighborhood – directly across from Wicker Park. The TVs are over the bar only, so it’s hard to see them unless you go stand at the bar. There is that area right in the front that low down, but there is no privacy. You aren’t going to be able to do any talking.
I 2nd Goose Island. I went to a shower there – they have a room that is downstairs – where they meet for the 1st part of the tour. You can see the TV screens from the room, but you have privacy to have your event.
I also like Northside (on Damen north of North) – they have a private room that has TVs. It’s Burgers but it’s good.
Feast is across the street from Northside. I’m not sure if they have TVs, but they have a party room / patio that is nice.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chief O’Neill’s. It’s a little bit north of Bucktown – Elston south of Addison at Kedzie (by Target). They have an upstairs room (not sure if there is a TV up there) but they also have several ways to partition off the big room (or if it’s nice you can have it outdoors). They have big screen TVs and the food is amazing.
