We are having a casual wedding with a BBQ and grilled food recption. We are curious on what to serve for our rehearsal dinner because those are usually a litle casual because our wedding is more casual food.
I was thinking burgers on the grill and salds while the finace was thinking Italian. I told him that I didnt want to eat a super filling italian meal the day before I have to fit into a dress. So now he has left it up to me to decide.
It’s a casual June 18th wedding with about 20 ppl attending in all.
What do you think?

Hmm. Well I voted for burgers, but now I think that may be a little too similar to the wedding dinner. I agree with you though that Italian may be heavy, but you don’t have to eat the pasta. I’d treat yourself to a nice light chicken sandwich and have a salad while everyone else can share pasta and salad.
Or, go super casual and have pizza 🙂 Mmm. Can you convince your Fiance that it’s still ‘Italian?’ hehe.

Thank you for responding! We are really mixed up on what to do!

I think we are having the same wedding! We’re doing back yard BBQ for the reception, and italian for the reherasal dinner. It feels a little funny, since the rehearsal dinner is going to be significantly “nicer” than the wedding, but whatever. My fiance was worried about it, but I convinced him that it isn’t a big deal and that ultimately, people are just going to be excited to be there.

I agree with not doing burgers, etc since that’s what your wedding meal is. Italian would be a nice option, you could do a lighter caprese salad and even grilled pizza if you wanted lighter options than pasta. Gelato or tiramisu (or both!) is a must have for dessert though 🙂

We’re doing BBQ for our wedding meal, and we’re going to a pizza/pasta joint for the rehearsal dinner.

I agree with the others that you should do Italian because it’s different from the wedding meal. We did had our rehearsal dinner at an Italian place. I stuffed my face with bread and spinach ravioli and I fit in my dress just fine : )

What about doing a lot of finger foods that are more casual? Lots of appitizers and things like that would be fun 🙂 I think burgers is a little too close to the wedding meal but agree italian might be too filling.
