I think its def cool to have a more informal & casual RD invitation. My in-laws did ours and since it was for a BBQ the paper had the classic red bandana print & they put a 3D coqboy boot sticker on it, they were cute & simple and appropirate for the laid back atmosphere.
Oh I realized I didn't answer your question about wording. It said something like
FIL & MIL invite you to a Texas Country BBQ the night before Bride & Grooms wedding. Date, Location, Time, & they had a little map on it too.

If so, what was your wording on it? Can it just be sort of informal handwritten?
