How to Win Friends and Influence People is actually really great for relationships!
It taught me to focus not on being right, but on making the other person feel important and listened to... always a key thing in relationships!
I really enjoyed Project Everlasting, http://www.projecteverlasting.com/. It is a book written by bachelors who interview couples who have been married for a minimum amount of years, I think it was 50 or more. They write about relationship advice and what makes tehir marriage/commitment work. I read it earlier this year and found it really inspiring.
I loved this book.

It was written honestly and in a no-nonsense style by a therapist. Her writing is very simple and non-cheesy. My fiance even liked it!
101 Things I Wish I Knew When I Got Married, by Bloom
A lot of it's common sense, but it's good reinforcement all the same.
His Needs, Her Needs
I got this as a shower gift from one of my Mom's friends and it is great - really helps you identify what your biggest needs are (and vice versa) and puts you to task about the need to spend time together to develop and sustain your relationship. The same author has lots of other books too.
this may sound kinda weird, but reading The Divorce Remedy helps you understand relationship dynamics and why people get divorced (which may help you prevent it!).
i've purchased this book for several friends!
We got these two books from our local walden books when it went out of business called "About Us" and "About Me".
They are both fill in the blank books that ask you questions about yourself, your mate, and your relatioship. We haven't done th about me one yet but it's self exploration where the about us in for the relatioship. We did it as kind of a date night. We haven't finished it yet but it was a lot of fun!
OMG rnc620, my FI and I got the "About Us" book too! We love it! It's great conversation starter, and we can talk all night about even just one of the questions, like "How many children do you want to have?"
My FI accused the book of being antagonistic with the sections about exes and religion and politics. I said we can have a veto rule so if a question pops up we don't want to talk about, we veto it for the night.
Love that book! There are so many things I learned about him (and we've been together for 3 1/2 years, I know a lot!)
I did the "All About Us" book with my ex, but we were a little younger, and fewer of the questions applied to us at the time. I would love to do it with my FI now. I saw it in a bookstore recently and thought maybe I'll buy it for Valentine's Day. :-)
I've also always wanted to read Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus and I haven't yet...I should get on that.

We used to do bible studies once a week to help us with our relationship and communication skills... but I would like to try a relationship book. I think the only one I've heard of is The Five Love Languages. What do you guys recommend and why?
