Relaxing Getaway around DFW area

posted 5 months ago in Dallas/Forth Worth

Hello Bees!

I'm looking for a relaxing getaway place in Dallas/Fort Worth and neighboring area. My fiance lives in Dallas but I don't, so i'm not quite familiar with places and stuffs.

We are postponing our honeymoon because of his work, so I'm trying to look for a minimoon/getaway alternative that's close-by. We both loooves Six Flag but that wouldn't be very relaxing :)

What are your recommendations for a relaxing romantic place for a getaway around DFW area?

Hmm. How far are you willing to drive? About 4 hours away, down south, is the Hill Country. There are some relaxing little B&Bs down there along rivers, especially in areas like Fredericksburg or Wimberly.

4 hours doesnt sound bad! We prefer less than 4 hours since we're planning to go during the weekend... but 4 hours is not bad. thanks amysue!

sure! the Hill Country is really close to both Austin and San Antonio, and it would be fun to spend a night eating/drinking in either.  also, Schlitterbaun is a great water park located in New Braunfels, smack dab between the two. you could spend a couple of days at a B&B a little father north just chillin', then head into the city for some fun!

if you want something a little closer (under 3 hours) you could try a B & B in Jefferson. My mom and I went there every year growing up and stayed a couple nights. You can shop a little, take a riverboat tour, see some pretty old houses. It's not super fancy but if you pick a nice b & b it's fun. (We stayed at The Captain's Castle.) But my ultimate vote is for the Hill Country also. Or just find a really nice hotel in DFW and hole up there and get spa services and rent movies and get roomservice, then venture out whenever you feel like it.
