Anamagana:  Nope. Your hair falls out and grows in at its own rate. No external factors such as shampoos, “growth serums”, supplements, etc… will change the rate at which your body produces keratin.

Anamagana:  My sister started taking Biotin pills about 6 months before her wedding- she’s always had really short hair (it’s so thin that it never grows past her shoulders) and she had read that it helped it grow faster/thicker/whatever. She attested to the fact that it worked (she was able to grow her hair just past her shoulders by the time of the wedding; enough for an updo). But, she warned that it also worked a little too well, because her leg hair grew faster too! Haha. So that would be the downside, but she just stopped taking it once the wedding was done and it went back to normal.

I take Biotin because my hair grows incredibly slowly…like a quarter of an inch in a month…. Since taking biotin it is growing about an inch every 6 weeks. I know I have to touch up my roots about once a month now. It does make hair everywhere grow faster. But it is also great for your skin and nails.

Biotin and pre natal vitamins. I noticed an overall, albieght slight improvement in my hair, skin, but mostly in my nails.

Trim it regularly. Avoid heat and putting it in bands as much as possible. Don’t wash every day. I’ve been keeping my hair down contstantly, not straightening, and washing it every other day. I look like a HOT mess all the time now but it will be worth it when I have long and healthy hair for all my friends weddings this summer.

I’ve also had good luck with soaking my hair in various oils. Gives it a nice shine, softness, and tames the flyaways for a bit. I’ll melt some honey into warm olive or coconnut oil and let it soak all over my head overnight. Then use a good quality clarifying shampoo just to get the excess oil out. Within a few days the oil is usually dried out and I have nice hair for a few more days.

Prenatal vitamins. Try to avoid coloring or using heat frequently.
