Since planning my wedding, I have learned so much about how it all works! Here are some weird things that I have realized:
A few years ago, I lived out of state and was totally broke. A good friend was getting married, and I thought since she knew I could not afford to go, I did not get an invite. Now I realize, I WAS NOT INVITED! duh! I asked my sister about it, and she said, “No, you WERE invited, they just put your name on the invitation with mine.” What?! Who does that?
Also, a friend was getting married. All of our old friends were going, but I did not get an invite. We hung out a few weeks before the wedding, and the groom was asking if I was going, and I said I hadn’t planned on it (awkward!) Then he texted me a few days before, “are you coming or not?” It was so weird, like I was supposed to RSVP to a verbal invite!
I am definitely sending an actual invitation in the mail to each of my guests!

haha I second that one.
I have had a few weddings.. I recieved a ‘text invite’ to two of them, one I got an email asking if I was coming.. and I hadnt been given an invite.
Needless to say it was embarrassing and kind of awkward, but I went.. and the groom and bride did say that they were really glad I came after their wedding. (i was close to all three brides) i just think they expected that I was just coming and didnt need to send me an invitation

Yeah, I had a coworker getting married and didn’t find it at all odd that he had invited our entire “office” but not me. Call me Mrs. Oblivious! Like two weeks before the wedding he was STRESSING OUT and asked me whether I was going. I said I didn’t realize I was invited. He said “You never received your invite?? THAT WAS $7.50 per invititation!! AAAAHHHHH!” I had no idea what he was going through! Then he somehow procured an extra one for me (magic??) and I RSVPd. Then I wore white to the wedding. Yeah, needless to say I was totally clueless. Lucky for me the bride is an ANGEL and totally didn’t mind my dress (ok, it was CREAM colored, but STILL!). I guess I made a lot of wedding kharma with that whole exchange, LOL!

@hoosierbee – It’s never happened to me…. but…. isn’t that weird that your sister never told you about the invitation?

Hi Buginarug, Yes! 1st, it’s weird that the bride wouldn’t contact me for my info and send one, 2nd it’s weird she put my name on my sisters, and third, it’s weird that my sister just mentioned it!
