I have a .39 round diamond that we want placed in a new setting.
I love the look of solitaires but I want just a little bit of sparkle on either side.
I’ve been trying on rings with side stones all over town and am finding plenty of examples but they are more ornate and fussy than I’m envisioning.
So tonight at Jared the sales lady had what I thought was a GREAT idea. I am super excited about this and am going to run it by my Fiance but wanted to check with the bees first.
She suggested this gorgeous wedding band with a half carat of 13 rounds across the top…
…..and said we could remove one of the diamonds on top, and replace it with a “basket” or “head” to hold my center stone. It would only cost $100 extra to add the basket.
I think it would be gorgeous…. do you think it would work? Has anyone else done something like this?
When I tried this band on I was spellbound. The stones are ideal cut, set in prongs — exactly what I want! — and it has just the amount of sparkle I’m looking for. Not too blingy, very delicate and feathery and light.
I’m seriously smitten with this band! The semi-mounts I tried on everywhere else just didn’t come close. I would love to adapt this wedding band and make it my engagement ring. Then I would probably want a very slender, slim, plain white gold wedding band to go with it.

The engagement ring from my first marriage was made the same exact way. Don’t worry it is totally feasible. How exciting for you! Post pics when it’s done!

Thank you Cupcake! I feel better hearing from someone who actually did this. I was on the Jared website last night and printed out several more examples very similar to the one I posted here. I think this is going to give me exactly the look I want — just a simple half eternity band with my .39 center stone in the middle, no frills or designs around it, just the stone on an eternity band.
I hope Fiance and I can get to Jared today or tomorrow because they’re having a sale where you get a $100 credit for every $500 you spend. We could use the credits to get my wedding band basically for free. Plus you get some Waterford crystal goblets. I hope he will be on board with this! We are in the middle of a home remodeling project so he is cost conscious right now. 😛
Also Cupcake, if you’re still reading this thread, what did you end up doing with the extra diamond that was removed to make room for the basket or head for your center stone? Did you sell it back or use it in another piece of jewelry? Keep it for sentimental reasons? I’m trying to think of what we could do with that extra diamond.

I think it will look great! Jared’s has beautiful work and I know they do work on site which is really nice!

Thank you, Faythe. I am becoming a huge fan of Jared’s. I have visited two locations several times in my area and have been very impressed with their professionalism and range of services. Fiance wants us to check out other local jewelers just so we can comparison shop, but he knows I am rooting for Jared’s.
As it turns out we won’t be able to go today because we are having a car issue that needs to be taken care of asap. We also have to go pick out carpet so it can be installed before I move in. It’s OK because after showing him the pics of the ring last night, he agreed it sounded like a good idea, but now I’m feeling confused and am second guessing myself. I have gone from wanting a halo to wanting a simple band with a few side stones and I guess I’m feeling overwhelmed. This is such a big decision…. I will be wearing this ring the rest of my life and I want to make sure I pick something that is just right. We’re getting married in less than two weeks but I feel like I want to take more time to think about this idea and make SURE this is what I really want to do. I would hate to end up regretting my choice. At the rate I’m going, we will end up getting the engagement setting after we’re married, LOL.
