@nerdybird:  This is the first I have heard of a Mirena crash. I honestly don’t get it because one of the points of Mirena is that very little of the hormones are circulating in your system. I never had a problem coming off of the pill.

I didn’t have any side effects when I had mine removed (well except for a period)!

I got my mirena out in July and the actual taking out was better than getting it in.  I actually iike the Mirena a lot but I’m now trying to get pregnant.  My first period after the Mirena came right when it normally would have but there was a LOT of bleeding.  Honestly, if I hadn’t looked it up online I would have thought I needed to go to the ER.  Not terrible cramping just a LOT of bleeding and lot of tissue/clots.  (sorry TMI)  That would be only thing I would be prepared for so you aren’t surprised.

As far as feeling blah or anything emotional I didn’t notice anything.  My second cycle in August was completely normal.

I am in good shape- I run and eat pretty healthy compared to the Average person I think.  I am 39.  I did notice a bit of weight gain right after getting it out which bugs me but it could also have been other reasons not related.  I wouldn’t worry too much.

Yah, I read about that too. I had mine out 3 months ago and it didn’t even phase me. Are you someone that is generally affected by hormones, PMS, etc? I am not and I’ve never had any mood effects from birth control.

I did just think of something: I’m at 4.5 years with Mirena. Does anyone else still get PMS symptoms? I’ve never bothered to Google it or ask my doctor. I haven’t had a period since 3 months after insertion, and I swear I still get PMS. Breakouts, cravings, mood swings, even tender breasts.

@MsW-to-MrsM:  oh you’ll absolutely still experience PMS. sometimes I feel out of control and then I realize, “oh, this must be PMS.” And a couple days later I’m fine.

mine is coming out in December and I am extremely nervous. I love my mirena and will sincerely miss it.

@mstellah:  I’m planning on getting a second one inserted. Time has flown by. I never want to go back on the pill. So I’m not the only one who still has PMS!

@nerdybird:  I love not having my period, but I also know what you mean about missing the whole woman thing.

@MsW-to-MrsM:

AHHH you’re not alone – after 3 years on the mirena happily period and PMS free, the PMS came back with a vengance! My breakouts haven’t cleared in a month 🙁
