Rent or buy wedding items

Whatever makes the most sense financially is how I look at it…

So if renting is cheaper than buying I’d go that route… if buying is cheaper that is for me.

BUT some people definitely have storage issues, so the convenience of renting even if the prices are higher is a consideration for some.

If space isn’t an issue, I’d buy and then resell.  That makes renting look even less attractive.

(Based on my time on WBee, it seems to me that reselling is not that difficult)

It depends on a number of factors. When you buy linens, you have to launder and iron them yourself, take them to the venue, set them up, take them back at the end of the event, launder and iron them again, then  advertise them for sale and meet with potential buyers. Besides the work involved, all of these take a lot of time.

If the end budget is the most important factor, buying and doing all that work yourself can make sense as you can recoup some of your costs.

If you don’t have the time, or the inclination to do all that work, you can always rent.

@Duncan:  Yes, this!!

Though I’ll probably resell because we have a small apartment. 🙁

I would rent every last piece if I could, including my dress.

@Moraz:  this is a great Idea for a business, a lot of brides are looking to spend less in their weddings, and I would like to save money if I find a dress to rent (if it is in good condition and I like the desing), I know about a lot of frends that would be interested in renting from other people used wedding items :P, you should buy the dresses from your friends and rent them, I think is a good business opportunity…
