We had a limo lined up, then I got to thinking about the cost and figured it was a silly expense....for the price of the limo for 4-5 hours, we are renting a convertible for an entire week so we can drive up the coast to Napa for our honeymoon. I thnk the memories of that outweigh the limo....our wedding and reception are at the same place so it's only a matter of us driving to one location.
We're passing on the limo/towncar. FI will be driving our car and MOH will be driving me to hair/makup since she'll need to be there anyway. We're undecided on our "getway" - we'll probably either use our own car, have a friend with a nice car give us a ride, or call a cab. Our ceremony and reception are at the same location and the party will probably last after most guests leave, so guests won't really see us traveling, and our photographer will be long gone anyway.
BuffaloBride,
You can consider having the Best Man or one of your fathers to drive the car. :) That way you won't have to drive it yourself and you get a nice car. You could also have them return the car for you..Often times it is done at an airport but they also have local editions for rental car pick ups and drop offs.
An alternative is to forgo renting the car, and just have your Best Man or fathers drive you in their own cars! :) It makes it a lot more personal, especially if it is a car that your parents drove you around in when you were a child. It makes is so meaningful and touching to have your father drive you, in the back seat, to your wedding.
We're getting a towncar. There's no hourly minimum, so it's $150 to take us there and back. We'll be drinking, so I didn't want to worry about driving, but it seemed really silly to be to get a limo when it's so expensive.

Hey ladies,
my fiance and I are back and forth on the idea of renting a luxury car on our wedding day - some people have told us that is an absolute must because we will not want to drive ourselves anywhere that day but to me it seems like an extra expense that will end up being more of a hassle (who will drive it? how will we return it? etc)
What are your thoughts? Did any of you do without? Did it work out? Do you really with you had gone ahead and splurged on the limo?
