I’m not in your area, but will be renting from our baker — I think it’s about $50-75 for one like what you’ve got pictured.

Yes, check with your cake vendor. All that we met with offered a cake stand (some provided it free-of-charge with the purchase, some with a rental fee or deposit).

Ours looked identical to that, and only required a refundable deposit. These silver stands are becoming more common.

It is really almost cheaper to buy one yourself than to rent it.  I got one like the one pictured above from "Hobby Lobby" online.  $49.99 with free shipping.

I rented an almost identical one from Classic Party Rentals SF (the pick-up warehouse is in Burlingame though). It came to $30 – it was an 18-inch square one.

I also went to our party/event rental company.  The cake "pedestal" – 17" costed as much as $56+ $20 shipping to buy, so we opted to rent it for $31.

Our florists had  one that they let us use for free. Ask your caterers, cake vendors, florists…see what they’ve got laying around that you could rent or use.
