Chair covers were never in our original budget but I have been trying to get quotes for rentals to cover 80 chairs since a friend told me that they could be cheaper than I thought since I was only renting. So far I already got a quote from one decorator (which is supposed to be cheaper) and she said it would be $790.00 to rent 80 chair covers with sashes and another who didn’t have sashes and was charging $500.
I feel like that is an outrageous price – I actually swore when I seen the emails! Considering that I could practically order all of the chair covers off of eBay (and own them) for a couple hundred dollars I feel like these vendors may be trying to screw me over. I could see that cost if maybe I was looking to rent closer to 800 instead of 80… I actually rechecked my original email inquiries to make sure I specifically stated that I needed 80.
I was wondering what a fair price would be to just rent 80 chair covers? If they are truly this expensive to rent then they are certainly out of the question!

WeddingBells2014: Does the rental fee include applying them to the chairs and tying the sashes? That takes time.
If you buy them, you will also have to factor in the time to iron them all.
Are your chairs really that bad that you need to spend money on a sea of white chair covers?

Hi I live in California, the average chair cover for rent is $2.00 a chair. I would rent the chair covers than make your own chairs sashes. You can make chair sashes for less than you can rent them for. Then you can also sell the sashes when you are done. Keep looking for cheaper chair cover rentals. The price quoted to you was rediculous. Look on craigslist.org classifieds ads.I always see brides trying to re rent their chair covers for even $1.50 a chair. Hope you find something a lot cheaper very soon!

julies1949: I had indicated that we would be willing to just pick them up from them and add them ourselves and then iron them before we bring them back. Not sure if they included their fee for that automatically or if that was literally just for the covers. The chairs aren’t that bad but my friend convinced me that for the right rental price that they could be worth it for the visual effect… certainly not worth it!
alisonwonderland: That had been what I was expecting to rent them at.
I’ll continue to look on second hand websites to see if I could get a deal for some but if not I have no problem just having bare chairs with bows or something to snazz them up.

WeddingBells2014: what do your chairs look like?

julies1949: They are just black folding chairs. Luckily they are not a strange pink or anything!

I would purchase them off linentablecloth.com – I got all of mine from there, 100 chair covers & 100 sashes. They were good quality, and they have sales often + free shipping. And you can resell and make most of what you spend on them.
