Haven’t done it in Turks & Caicos, but have elsewhere.

We’ve had great success using FlipKey, which is an affiliate of TripAdvisor, and also owned by Expedia.

You can find FlipKey Properties reviewed on TA.

Some are listed there, but there are even more listed on their main Website

FlipKey = http://www.flipkey.com

My understanding is that T&C is GORGEOUS… truly STUNNING but not a cheap part of the Caribbean

Hope this helps (somewhat)

To @Bri1o:  you are very welcome, glad to help

FlipKey is great cause it is one of the better rental services you’ll find in that what you see is what you get.  And all the entries are vetted … so not like other rental listings (Craigs List – VRBO – AirBnB etc) where there is potential for being scammed.

We used FlipKey for a rental once, and it was an easy process, and exactly as promised.  So I have no qualms using it again or recommending it.

You said…

I am a bit concerned about the cost of items once we are there such as  groceries, restaurants, drinks etc.! But it looks GORGEOUS and I think it might be worth it to splurge a little bit!

In that case, my best advice would be to check out TripAdvisor, and the Travel Forum for T&C… you can post Questions and have them answered by TA’s Destination Experts (people who know their stuff) and locals.

I’d advise doing that in the planning stages, as they’ll also be able to advise you on where you might want to locate yourself in regards to good location, beach, things to do, convenience for services, and even where the grocery stores are (or where to shop, get good deals, save money etc)

Just put up a post about what your vision is… what you have in mind, and how much you have to spend once you are there.

The more info you give, the better the replies you’ll get.

TripAdvisor – Turks & Caicos (Travel Forum) = http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowForum-g147395-i212-Turks_and_Caicos.html

Hope this helps,

PS… Don’t be shy… you can actually ask the price of specific things for comparisson sakes to what we pay in Canada.  OR you can tell them you are looking to done this rather inexpensively and looking for tips

(ie if you were posting for say one of the many costal areas in NA that Mr TTR & I frequent on vacation, I might tell you where to get Fresh Fish or Seafood right off the boats, so you could save some money vs the Grocery Stores)

Also, think about packing along some supplies for your trip.  If you are going to plan on having Breakfast in the Condo each morning, doesn’t hurt to bring some “dry goods” in your luggage so you don’t have to purchase them (and pay oodles when you are there).  Things like Teabags for instance if you are a tea drinker… can fit into a ziploc baggie, and take up very little room.

Thinking outside the box can save you money.

Hope this helps,
