    @bunnyharriet:  My ring came with a small diamond.  We replaced it with a 1/2 carat moissy (still pretty small).  I have the diamond somewhere, though I haven’t seen it in years.

    @bunnyharriet:  Thanks!

    Roughly, it was $100 for the original channel set band and tiny diamond from a pawn shop + $200 for the 1/2 carat moissy + $200 for the plain, flat wedding band.  So yes, $300 not including my wedding band.

    Fortunately for me, my jeweler is letting me trade in the diamond we bought from them for a moissanite upgrade!

    Here is the .45 carat diamond center stone I’m trading in next to my new 1.25 carat forever brilliant moissanite. Can’t wait to get my ring back on Tuesday!!! I miss her all the time…

    @yellow15rose:  I’m so excited for you! It was an excellent decision, I think 🙂

    Have you thought about changing your setting’s traditional prongs for claw prongs?

    I think it would make your setting look so special! The ring below is an example of claw prongs on a solitaire. This ring does not belong to me, although my ring does have claw prongs.

    I can’t fathom trading my diamond for anything in the world.  I love it and what it symbolizes.

    @Kat:  I haven’t really given much of a thought to prongs other than that I enjoy there being 4 instead of 6.  Here’s the final ring, I got it back tonight!

    @yellow15rose:  I looked at your thread & saw your post.

    Your ring looks lovely & I hope you adore it too! You are so right about looking at your FI & saying “Look at it!” every 10 minutes lol. I do that all the time. The sparkle is so intense that I have been told at a restaurant once that my ring was blinding 🙂 (I have a 3ct OEC Amora)

    Here’s a good before/after comparison:

    Did I forget to mention we saved money with this swap?  The diamond (H color, VS2 clarity, .45 carat, Very Good cut) cost $949, and the moissanite (forever brilliant enhanced, 1.25 carat, Round Brilliant cut) cost $549.

    The difference in stones is paying for the groom’s wedding band.  I feel like that’s a personal win since we’re trying to budget for the wedding next year, and I don’t want to have to sacrifice bling.  🙂

    @bunnyharriet:  I’m newly engaged and just traded my 0.83 ct diamond center for a 1.25 moissanite that I LOVE!!  Here are some pics:
