For our July 15th wedding, we set a reply date of July 1st. It gave us enough time to hound those who didn't commit. Plus I figured it was easy to remember.
give at least 4 weeks (count 4 weekends) before your date. you'll need that first weekend to call all of the pending/non-responsive people. then you'll take about a week to do your seating chart, then you'll have a week or 2 to do your escort cards and place cards if you're having those.
Our wedding in May 10, but we are asking for replies by April 1 (sending the invites out March 1) because it is a quasi-destination wedding and we figure people will know by then if they are coming or not. We have so many events, like you, that we wanted to do it as soon as possible, and we were told that this was not too early. I hope no one else thinks so!
Generally all the advice I have seen says 4 weeks. If you send out your invitations about 8 weeks ahead, this gives people plenty of time. Some of them will straggle in late. You can then start calling around about 3 weeks before the wedding - you don't want to be doing that the week before!!
I would think for a destination wedding people will definately know 5 - 6 weeks in advance - depending upon when you sent your invitations, and whether you sent STDs!! I know it would take me a little longer to decide than for a local wedding, but people should definately be thinking about buying plane tickets by that time.
Our wedding is May 17 and we said April 1st for RSVPs. We're a destination wedding, and we need time to figure out the menu (the amount of people will determine whether we pick a plated dinner or a really cool 'action station' set up). Because that's pretty far ahead (6 weeks), I'm sure we will have to hound a bunch of people, but hopefully most people will get them in on time.

Hi all--
How many weeks before the wedding should I sent my 'reply by' date for? We're having a bunch of weekend events and people will be replying for all of them, so I'm looking for the earliest I can get away with. A month?
