I love your dress, and I think it would look gorgeous as a formal gown. Have you thought about maybe just changing the color of the gown and not doing any alterations?
I hadn't thought of that, but it could totally work! Do you know how one goes about getting a wedding dress dyed?
@nicolethegrrr8: That was exactly what I was thinking, that the OP could dye it since it's not too poufy or heavily beaded to wear in another colour as a formal dress.
A quick google search yielded these results. Interesting!

Super suggestions - totally contacted the dyeing service in the second link. Thank you!!

I was married on 10.29 wearing Justin Alexander 8334. I love love love my dress!!
My husband and I are honeymooning in April and just bought tickets to a black tie event for the first night of our honeymoon - starting things off swanky!! I have a fantasy that I might be able to work with a seamstress to alter my dress to a formal gown that I can wear to the event, would love to come full circle like that. My seamstress for alterations was a nightmare, my worst vendor, so she's out. I live in NYC, figure if there's anywhere that I might be able to make this happen it could be here. Any ideas on turning a wedding dress into a ball gown? Anyone know any amazing seamstresses in the NYC area who might be excited to work on a project like this? I would love to hear any ideas you all might have!!!
